ster that will be a big part
of the Bulldogs team this
year.
On offense, TJ Stanley
is a transfer that is coming
in and has earned a spot at
quarterback. He is a tall kid
with a good arm that they
think can make an impact
in the passing game.
Hayden Roy will also see
time at quarterback and
has a different skill set that
the Bulldogs can utilize.
Roy is more of a runner
with Stanley the better
passer of the two.
In the backfield,
Dabvn Wadley had a great
summer and is looked at to
carry the ball this year for
Toombs. Kamari Williams
is another player that is go
ing to see time in the back-
field who is a great athlete.
Roy will move from quar
terback to running back in
some situations as well.
Out at receiver, Hay
ward is going to lead the
pack. He has a great skill
set and is a college pros
pect at the position. De
loach is another Bulldog
that is going to be a solid
player. Mike Polke and
Gavin Fletcher are both
great athletes that are able
to get downfield and
spread defenses out.
Up front for Toombs,
Van Vleck will anchor the
line at center. Nobles is go
ing to not only be a team
leader but is going to be a
big part of the offensive
line for Toombs. Augustus
Underwood will be an
other key to the offensive
line at guard. Javier Gonza
lez is another key lineman
and Turner will also take
key spots on the line.
Up front on the defen
sive side of the ball, Nobles
will anchor the line at nose
guard. Barwick, Brandon
McCall, and Caleb
Ogleesby will also be key
players up front for
Toombs. Moving into the
linebacker crew the Bull
dogs will be missing Tank
Morris and Caden Marsh.
This season MJ Burton, a
freshman, has come in and
made a real impact already
for Toombs in the middle.
Coach Martin says that he
has grown considerably
since last season and could
be a four-year starter for
Toombs. Zyreese Scott will
be moving inside for the
linebackers and is a big
presence for the Bulldogs.
Ryder Sears came on
strong last year and will be
a real physical presence for
Toombs. Roy, Williams,
Wadley and Hayden John
son will all see time at out
side backer.
In the secondary for
Toombs, Polke, Deloach
and Jaquain McCall are all
good cover players and will
take turns at cornerback.
At safety Hayward will be
the key center fielder for
the Bulldogs Fletcher and
Alex Scott will also be back
over the top for Toombs.
On special teams,
Braylan Dietrich has been
a solid soccer player for the
Bulldogs and will be taking
on the role of kicker for the
football team as well this
year. He has a great leg and
will give them a weapon.
Dakota Molone and Bran
don McCall will be long
snappers for the Bulldogs
and both are solid at that
position.
Coach Martin added,
“We just have such great
support. From Barry
Waller at Superintendent,
Tabitha Nobles our Assis
tant Superintendent, man
they are great to have. I was
in Florida for a long time
and you just didn’t see
them be such a part of the
program. Our Principal
Marissa Morris just loves
kids. That is just number
one to her. They make this
such a special place to
work. Through them we
can do the things we need
to do the best for our kids.”
Toombs will be again
in one of the toughest re
gions in the state. They are
in the only region in AA
that has two top five pre
season teams with Pierce
County at #2 and Appling
County at #4. The rivalry
with Vidala is always on
the radar especially with
both Toombs and Vidala
with new Head Coaches
this season. This is going to
be a test from the first game
to the last as the Bulldogs
try to battle their way into
playoff contention.
Toombs will open
their season on August 18,
on the road at the Blue
Tide of Long County. Kick
off will be at 7:30 p.m.
They will take on Wheeler
County in the second week
of the season, which is be
coming a tradition be
tween the AA Toombs and
A Wheeler in several differ
ent sports.
