Mrs. Annette Sasser
D. Annette Sasser, age
80 of Savannah, (affec
tionately known as “Ma-
maNette” by many), passed
away August 9, 2023, sur
rounded by her family
Annette was born on
August 25, 1942, in Lake
land, Florida. She was pre
ceded in death by her par
ents, Rev. Roy C. Drawdy
and Fredna Myers Drawdy,
and her beloved sister, Bar
bara Powell.
Annette leaves behind
her husband of twenty-
three years, John Sasser;
three brothers, Rev. Clifton
Drawdy (Nancy), Rev. Ron
Drawdy (Joyce), and Rev.
Don Drawdy (Linda); two
children, Teri (Clint) Wil
liams and Rick (Elizabeth)
Johnson; eight grandchil
dren, Anna (Noah) Bul
lard, Erin (Canaan) Banks,
Micah (Candace) Williams,
Ruth (Mason) English, Ja
cob (Sara) Lawrence, Jona
than (Alice) Johnson, Isa
bella Johnson, Kelly Cassiel
(Nate) Wiehn; eighteen
great-grandchildren, Elbe
(R’ien) Perez, Ava Bullard,
Lily Bullard, Scout Banks,
River Banks, Forest Banks,

As the daughter of a
preacher, Annette’s family
moved wherever pastoral
positions led them, which
eventually brought them
to Georgia. She graduated
from Swainsboro High
School in 1960. After mar
riage and the birth of her
two children, she took a
two-year correspondence
course in writing from the
Institute of Children’s Lit
erature in New York. She
continued her education
with a two-year degree in
Early Childhood Develop
ment. Some years later, An
nette completed a Master’s
in Christian Education and
the Arts from Southern
Bible Institute, a Doctorate
in Theology, and a Doctor
ate in Christian Psychology
and Counseling from Jack
sonville Theological Semi
nary.
On May 8, 1999, she
married John O’Conner
Sasser. Although he came
into her life and the lives
of her children later in life,
his love and devotion to
their mother has meant ev
erything to them and their
families.
Annette was an evan
gelist, preacher, teacher,
prolific songwriter, musi
cian, recording artist, and
published author. She spent
many years co-pastoring,
church-planting, and lead
ing worship in churches
throughout Georgia. She
also recorded four albums,
and, at the age of seventy-
eight, published a book en
titled The Seed. At the age
of seventy-nine, she wrote
a children’s book, Squeak’s
Song. For over twenty years,
Annette and her husband
John have been a part of the
Christian Boater’s Associa
tion (CBA) and served in
positions of leadership for
much of that time.
For Annette, family was
her “greatest treasure.” She
was fiercely proud of each
and every one of them. Al
though “MamaNette” will
be sorely missed, she left her
family an incredible legacy
that will no doubt impact
many generations to come.
Her love for Jesus, family,
and music will continue to
impact the world through
her many descendants. She
was truly one of a kind.
The funeral was held at
the Wilkes Funeral Home
in Vidalia on Sunday, Au
gust 13, 2023, at 3:00 in
the afternoon with Rever
end Ron Drawdy officiat
ing. Burial followed at Pine
Crest Cemetery.
The pallbearers were
David Powell, Darrell Pow
ell, Steve Drawdy, Dave
O’Leary, Stacy Worth, and
Gerald Murray.

Mrs. Angela “Tootsie”
Morrison Moore, age 62,
of Baxley, died on Satur
day, August 12, 2023, at
Miller County Hospital in
Colquitt after an extended
illness.
Mrs. Moore was a na
tive of Vidalia and lived
most of her life there be
fore moving to Baxley sev
eral years ago. She was a
homemaker and attended
Blocker’s Chapel. She was
preceded in death by her
parents, George and Belle
Morrison.
Survivors include her
daughter, Hannah Cauley
of Baxley; 2 sisters, De
nise Osborne and husband
Johnny of Oak Park and
Gayle McKenzie and hus
band Roger of Swainsboro;
4 grandchildren, Marianna
Cauley, Clayton Cauley,
Weston Cauley, and Wes
ley Cauley; and several
nieces and nephews.
The funeral service
will be held on Wednesday,
August 16, at 11:00 a.m.,
in the chapel of Wilkes Fu
neral Home, with Pastor
Brad McKenzie officiating.
Burial will follow in Boiling
Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Phillip Braswell
Mr. Phillip D. Bras
well, age 70, of Swainsboro
passed away on Wednesday,
August 9,2023, at his home.
Bom in Dublin, he was
one of four children born to
the late Joseph Dillon Bras
well and Anne Lois Fort
Braswell. Phillip grew up
in Adrian and was a gradu
ate of Adrain High School,
Class of 1970. After high
school, he attended the
University of Georgia for
two years. Growing up, the
son of a farmer, it was a nat
ural fit that he follow in his
father’s footsteps and be
come a “tiller and custodian
of the land.” Phillip knew
no clock, he worked when
there were things that need
ed to be done, no matter
the hour or the day. He was
successful in his efforts and
toils growing cotton, tobac
co, soybeans and peanuts.
He was passionate about
his family; time spent with
them and being able to pro
vide for their needs. After
his family came his Georgia
Bulldogs. He was not only
a fan of his Alma Mater but
he loved all sports and was
a walking encyclopedia re
calling stats, winners, losers,
NAS CAR wrecks and many
events from games and con
tests of years past. Phillip
stayed abreast of local and
national politics and was
always ready to share his
viewpoint on the present
state of affairs. He enjoyed
traveling; primarily when
he could treat his family
to destinations to include
Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge,
Cherokee, Las Vegas and
all the parks associated with
Disney World, especially
the annual family Christ
mas to Disney trip. He was
a regular face at the weekly
card games and birthday
club events at the Swains
boro Country Club.
Phillip had been a
member of the Keas United
Methodist Church since
childhood and had most re
cently attended Swainsboro
United Methodist Church.
He leaves behind his
wife of twenty five years,

Mrs. Catherine White-
head Underwood, age 90,
of Atlanta, died on Sun
day, August 6, 2023, at her
home.
Mrs. Underwod was
born in Rockledge and was
a graduate of the Wilkes
High School. She attended
Trevecca Nazarene Univer
sity in Nashville. In 1961
she and her husband moved
to Atlanta. She owned and
operated a Catering and
Bakery Business for over
40 years. She served as the
church hostess at Grace
United Methodist Church
for 20 years and as the Head
Chef for Shingleroof United
Methodist Campground for
17 years. She was preceded
in deaqth by her parents,
Grady Lee Whitehead and
Ruby B. Miller Whitehead;
her husband, Horace Grady
Underwood; and 2 sisters,
Carolyn Whitehead Barrs
and Cecile Whitehead.
Survivors include 3
daughters, Mary Catherine
(Cathy) Simmons and her
husband Mick of Snellville,
Carla Elizabeth Spence and
her husband Mark of Irw-
inville, and Cecilia Under
wood of Lilburn; her grand
children, Christi Spence

Mr. Douglas Braddy
Mr. F. Douglas Braddy,
age 81, beloved husband of
Fran Phillips Braddy of Sop
erton passed away on Friday
afternoon, August 11,2023,
at Memorial Health in Sa
vannah.
A native and lifelong
resident of Soperton, he was
the eldest of three children
born to the late Malcolm
Dudley Braddy and Pau
line Hutcheson Braddy. He
was a graduate of Treutlen
High School, where he was
known to have ridden his
motorcycle down the halls.
Mr. Braddy
had worked at
Calvine Mills
in Swainsboro
before joining
Chan Cart
er at Farmer’s Furniture,
where he was affectionately
known as “Pee Wee,” and
worked for thirty-nine years
before retiring in 2004. In
March of 1964, he mar
ried Soperton native and
his high school sweetheart,
Fran Phillips. Over the next
fifty-nine years, she became
the love of his life. Mr. Brad
dy was a jokester who had
a tender heart and humble
spirit. He was an avid stu
dent of Bible study and was
never hesitant to share his
faith and belief in Christ.
He loved the outdoors, be
ing around God’s creatures,
hunting, fishing and time
spent with his grandchil
dren.
He had attended Sop
erton First Baptist Church,
Boiling Springs Baptist
Church, Harmony Baptist
Church and had been a
longtime member at Morn-
ingside Baptist Church.
Mr. Braddy was pas
sionate about his faith,
his family and his country
which was displayed by his
service in the United States
Army Reserves for six years.
In addition to his par
ents, he is preceded in death
by his brother, Tommy
Lynn Braddy, and a brother-
in-law, Bobby Nobles.
Mr. Braddy leaves be
hind his wife and the love of
his life, Fran Phillips Brad
dy; their daughter, Cheryl
Wheeler (Travis); their son,
David Braddy; his sister, Di
ane Nobles, all of Soperton;
five grandchildren, Jade
Braddy, Keith Wheeler, Ni
cole Wheeler, David Brad
dy, Jr., Zach Braddy; great
grandchildren, Cameron
Lyles, Dawson Wheeler,
Paisleigh Wheeler, Aurora
Wheeler, Lilly Wagner; and
his very much loved nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were
conducted at 11:00 a.m. on
Monday, August 14, 2023,
in the Williams Chapel of
Sammons Funeral Home
with Pastors Vic Fordham
and George Grimes officiat
ing.
Mr. Braddy was laid to
rest in Momingside Baptist
Church Cemetery.

gan, age 77, of Soperton,
died on Tuesday, August
8, 2023, at the Treutlen
County Health and Reha
bilitation Center in Soper
ton.
Mrs. Morgan was born
in Montezuma and was a
graduate of Macon County
High School. She managed
Allied Retail Store in Mon
tezuma. She moved to Sop
erton in 1989 and worked
for Roydonwear as a Ma
chine Operator until retir
ing in the early 2000s. She
was preceded in death by
her parents, Charlie Willis
Hill and Janie Mayo Hill.
Survivors include her
husband of 58 years, Billy
Morgan, Soperton; her
