What a game it was for
the Vikings of Treutlen
County High School as
they hosted rival Mont
gomery County on Friday
of last week. The Vikings
were on a 19-game losing
streak, and they had not
beaten MCHS in seven
years. That all changed on
Friday as Treutlen con
trolled the line and took
the win 38-7.
The only score from
the Eagles of Montgomery
came on a long run by Ja-
mun Coglin in the second
quarter of the game.
Treutlen got a big
night from senior Angelo
Peeples, who scored two
times in the game. Cooper
Brantley had a solid night
at quarterback, and Roder
ick Fuller and Jalek John
son both had big games
was snuffed out to a 3 and
out but a roughing the
kicker penalty on the punt
gave the Warriors an auto
matic first down and re
tained possession. Two
plays later, Heyward picked
a Warrior pass and raced
35-yards for another Bull
dog TD. Dietrich’s point
after gave the Dogs a 35-0
lead with 7:35 left in the
3rd quarter.
The Dogs ran only 6
offensive plays following
running the ball as well,
each scoring touchdowns
in the game. Jordan Coney
also pulled in a receiving
touchdown for the Vi
kings just before the end
of the first half.
Coglin was the only
bright spot for MCHS
with 102 yards rushing on
the night with the touch-
that due to a running clock
in the 4th quarter. Alex
Scott and Zyrese Scott
highlighted the defense
with 11 total tackles each.
The Bulldogs improve
to 5-0 and 1-0 in Region
play. This is the first 5-0
start for Toombs since
2017. Next up, the Bull
dogs will host the Brantley
County Herons at Booster
Stadium this Friday night
with kickoff at 8:00 p.m.
down.
Treutlen is now 1-4 on
the season and will start
Region play this week as
they host Wilcox County
at 7:30 p.m. The Eagles are
0-5 on the season and will
be at Bryan County on Fri
day at 7:30 p.m. for a non
region game.

The Wheeler County
High School softball team
played two games last
week as they picked up a
win over McIntosh
County Academy on
Monday of last week, but
fell to Wilcox County in
extra innings on Thurs
day.
vs. MCA
It was all Wheeler on
Monday as the Lady Bull
dogs rolled to a win.
Wheeler took the early
lead with two runs in the
top of the first inning in
Darien. They plated five
more in the second in
ning to push their lead to
7-0.
Two more runs for
Wheeler in the top of the
third made it 9-0.
Wheeler scored one in
the fourth and then got
four more in the fifth in
ning as they took the win
by the run rule, 14-0.
vs. Wilcox
It was a heartbreaker
for the Lady Bulldogs in
Rochelle on Thursday.
The game was scoreless
through the first three in
nings, but in the top of
the fourth inning,
Wheeler got a run across
to take a 1-0 lead.
That lead held until
the bottom of the seventh
inning when Wilcox
scored a run to tie the
game at 1-1, and send it
into extra innings.
Wheeler couldn't get any
thing across in the top of
the eighth, but in the bot
tom of the frame Wilcox
found a way and scored a
run to take a 2-1 win over
the Lady Bulldogs.
Wheeler is now 12-7
on the year, and they are
3-4 in the Region and
currently sitting in fourth
place.
This week they had a
rematch with MCA on
Monday and hosted
Treutlen County on
Tuesday after presstime.
They will be at Hawkins-
ville on Wednesday at
5:30 p.m.
