and Worship

The City of Lyons will
host its 4th Annual Faith
and Blue event, which pro
motes unity and reconcili
ation among the public, on
Monday, October 9, at 6
p.m. in the Toombs County
High School Auditorium.
Faith & Blue is an event
celebrated nationwide to
bring law enforcement of
ficers and the community
together through faith. The
idea behind the event is to
create safer, stronger, more
just and unified commu
nities by connecting law
enforcement profession
als, residents, businesses
and community groups
through faith.
The initiative aims to
re-calibrate police-commu
nity relations through solu-
tions-focused, in-person
activities that are organized
jointly by faith-based or
other community groups
and law enforcement agen
cies. This year, on October
6-9, cities across the na
tion will come together in
worship to promote faith,
fellowship resolution, and
reconciliation.
The Lyons Police De
partment and several local
faith leaders have come
together for the past three
years to promote the event
throughout the communi
ty, as city and county lead
ers, faith leaders, law en
forcement, and the public
all join to sing, speak, and
praise God together. For
more information on the
event, contact Lyons City
Hall at (912) 526-3626.
GBI Investigates Officer Involved
Shooting in Montgomery County

Bureau of Investigation (GBI)
The Georgia Bureau
of Investigation (GBI) is
investigating an officer in
volved shooting in Alley.
On Sunday, October
1, at about 11:10 p.m.,
the Montgomery County
Sheriff’s Office requested
the GBI to investigate.
One man was shot and
later died. No officers were
injured.
According to the pre
liminary investigation,
the Montgomery County
Sheriff’s Office received
a call at around 6:00 p.m.
on October 1 stating that
Donald Bonner Jr., age 45,
of Alley, GA, was in his
yard firing random shots.
Montgomery County
Sheriff’s Office deputies
responded to the report
and attempted to nego
tiate with Bonner, who
made threats to kill law en-
CEE SOS D3
OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTOUT - A dispatch call about
a man, Donald Bonner Jr., shooting in his yard escalated
into an officer-involved shooting on Sunday, October 1.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation are continuing to in
vestigate the incident, which resulted in Bonner's death.
Bonner was wanted on
outstanding warrants for
two counts of aggravated
assault on a law enforce
ment officer from an in
cident in March where he
fired shots in the presence
of Montgomery County
Sheriff’s Office deputies.
Following this incident,
law enforcement decided
to wait and attempt to
arrest Bonner when he
was away from his house.
Those arrest warrants were
not served at that time.
The GBI will continue
its independent investi
gation. Once complete,
it will be given to the
Oconee Judicial Circuit
District Attorney’s Office
for review.
This is the 73rd officer
involved shooting the GBI
has been requested to in
vestigate in 2023.

the relatively ethical half of
the Biden-Harris ticket.
Prior to that, you prob
ably have to go back to
Henry Wallace, whom
Democrats thankfully
dumped in 1944 after he
served one term as FDR’s
vice president. Wallace’s
views on the Soviet Union
were criminally naive and
disqualifying for any high
official of the United States.
Wherever you rank Ka-
mala Harris, there’s no
doubt that she’s a poor se
lection that Democrats will
almost certainly have to tol
erate because of an ideologi
cal trap of their own mak

ended as Bonner went
back into his house and
did not continue further
conversations.
The Sheriff’s Office
established a perimeter
and waited on the Georgia
State Patrol (GSP) SWAT
team to assist Montgom
ery County S.O. with safe
ly serving arrest warrants
for 2 counts of aggravated
assault on Bonner.
Once GSP SWAT ar
rived, GSP Aviation spot
ted a person behind the
house with a gun. Before
negotiations began be
tween Bonner and GSP
SWAT, Bonner was shot
once. Bonner received
medical aid on scene, and
was taken to the Memorial
Health Meadows Hospi
tal, where he later died.
