Season Off To Good Start
Courtesy of BPC
The Brewton-Parker
College Esports program
had a busy week last
week as the Barons com
peted in four different
game titles across three
separate leagues.
BPC’s highlight of
the week came from the
Rocket League Premier
squad as they solidified
themselves as one of the
top teams in the nation,
qualifying for the 2023
Fall Collegiate Rocket
League Series for the
program’s second-
straight qualification to
the CRL.
“I’m proud of how
hard our entire program
is working this season,”
Director Adam Stanley
mentioned. “Of course,
I’m excited for the effort
our Rocket League guys
exhibited to qualify for
CRL. It is a huge accom
plishment that many did
not think was possible.”
“The amount of dis
cipline this group has ex
hibited has been extraor
dinary,” Stanley men
tioned. “They set a goal
and saw it through with
hard work, and that's
worth celebrating.”
“Ultimately, we see
this as a program-wide
success that everyone in
our program has contrib
uted to and will share,”
Stanley added. “Now
that we've made it, the
true work begins.”

Christian Academy had
their 4th Annual Powder
Puff football game on
Wednesday, September
20, at McLendon Field.
There were two teams vy
ing for the win. The Navy
team consisted of the
Sophomore and Junior
classes, and the Columbia
team consisted of the
Freshman and Senior
classes. The Senior class
felt a lot of pressure for
this highly anticipated
game due to their three
year reign as champions.
Coaches for the
teams were Hayden
Kight, Hunter Sikes, and
Tripp Durden for the Co
lumbia team, and Gage
Brantley and Jayden
Toole for the Navy Team.
The game consisted
of two 20 minute halves
and a 10 minute halftime.
The game started at 6:30
p.m., and had a great turn
out.
Throughout the first
half, both teams had got
ten close to the end zone
but were never able to
break through to gain a
touchdown. Notable de
fense was shown from
Caroline Thompson for
the Columbia team and
Meredith Durden for the
Navy team. A great pass
ing game was shown by
quarterback Emmie Da
vis for the Columbia team
and Madalyn Joyner for
the Navy team.
After the halftime
break, it was back to busi
ness for both teams. Late
in the second half the
Navy team finally made it
to the end zone for a
touchdown on a pass
thrown by Madayn Joyner
and caught by Meredith
Durden.
With that play, it
brought the score to 6-0,
for a victory by the Navy
team. All proceeds were
benefiting the Yearbook
Staff. RTCA would like to
give a huge thank you to
Becky Pittman for orga
nizing and putting to
gether this year's powder-
puff game.
