The Brewton-Parker
College wrestling teams
were in action last week.
The Lady Barons were
on the road at the Patriot
Duals in Kentucky while
the men hosted Montreat
(N.C.) on Friday night.
Women
Brewton-Parker Col
lege Women’s Wrestling
produced a 2-2 record at
the Patriot Duals on Fri
day in Williamsburg, Ky.
The Lady Barons
started the day off with a
29-20 loss to Siena
Heights (Mich.). Elora
Waterman kicked the
dual off with a forfeit at
the 101-pound weight
class to give the Barons a
5-0 lead. Jaelynn Sunseri
followed at the
109-pound division,
dropping to a 10-0 tech
fall. Tashayla West
bounced back for the
Lady Barons in the
116-pound Division,
with a 2:00 minute fall to
put BPC up 10-4.
Brewton-Parker gave
up a forfeit in the
126-pound weight class
before Kathleen Fisher
got a fall at the 1:15 mark
in the 130-pound divi
sion, and Jorie Richard
son gathered a fall in
3:39 to give the BPC a
20-9 lead. Unfortunately,
the Lady Barons had to
forfeit the last four
weight classes to drop
the dual 29-20.
Sunseri (109) kicked
off the match with Mon
treat (N.C.) with a forfeit
win to give the Lady Bar
ons a 5-0 lead, followed
by a double forfeit at
116. West (123) took a
tech fall loss, but BPC
kept a one-point lead.
Fisher (130) and
Richardson (136) both
were able to pick up falls
to put the Lady Barons
up 15-4. Brewton-Parker
had to take forfeits at
143, 155, and 191, while
there was another double
forfeit at 170. Waterman
(101) ended the dual
with a forfeit win, giving
the Lady Barons a 20-19
win over Montreat.
Following up on the
win over Montreat, BPC
took down Liberty (Va.)
26-18. Tatiana Garcia
took a forfeit win at the
123-pound weight class
to start the Lady Barons
with a 5-0 lead. After a
double forfeit at 130,
Fisher (136) gathered a
57-second fall to extend
the lead to 10. Richard
son (143) fell in a 6-3
decision to give Liberty
three points.
Brewton-Parker
dropped the next three
matches to forfeits and
fell to an 18-11 deficit,
but Waterman (101),
Sunseri (109), and West
(116) all took forfeit
wins to give the Lady
Barons the 26-18 win.
In the last match of
the day, BPC took on
Campbellsville. The dual
started at the 130-pound
division, where Fisher
took a 1:20 fall, followed
by a 9-1 decision loss
from Richardson (136).
BPC took forfeit
losses in the next four
weight classes to fall be
hind 28-1. In the
101-pound division, Wa
terman fell in 4:30, and
was followed by a 1:41
fall loss from Sunseri
(109). Before taking an
other forfeit at 123, West
was dropped in a 10-0
tech fall. The Lady Bar
ons dropped the last
match of the day, 47-1.
Men
After nearly a two-
week hiatus from the
mat, (RV) Brewton-
Parker Men’s Wrestling
challenged fellow Appa
lachian Athletic Confer
ence member Montreat
(N.C.) in Gillis Gymna
sium on Friday night.
The Barons (1-0, 1-0
AAC) opened confer
ence action with a dual
against the Cavaliers (0-
3, 0-2 AAC), securing a
31-17 victory in front of
a home crowd in Mount
Vernon.

Brewton-Parker
opened the match strong
by earning six team
points in three of the
first four bouts. Charlie
Henkel led the early
charge as the 184-lb bout
was the first of the eve
ning. Henkel took down
Dre Bonner with a pin
for a swift 6-0 lead.
At 197, Thomas
Crawford fell in a 17-0
tech fall to Seth William
son to give away five
points to the Cavaliers.
The Barons then re
sponded with a 12-point
swing as Wilkinson Saul
secured the 285-lb bout
over Lucian Thomas, uti
lizing a pin that was fol
lowed up by a forfeit win
for Patrick Jones at 125.
For the 133 bout,
Keyshaun Taylor fell shy
in a tight 14-12 decision
to Coy Reid as the Cava
liers cut their deficit
down to 10 points. Mon
treat secured another six
points in the 141 bout as
Jack Hawbaker managed
to pin Conner Wright to
pull the visitors four
points closer.
Gavin Daniels helped
the Barons with three
points in the 149 match,
downing Braden Whar
ton with an 8-6 decision.
However, Montreat was
able to move to a one-
point deficit in the 157
bout as Daniel Bennett
handed a 15-8 decision
loss to Bradley Owens to
make the match 18-17 in
favor of BPC.
The Barons would go
on to seal the match with
back-to-back wins to
close out the dual. Sean
Houston finished the
165 bout with a pin over
Ashton Medeiros, and
Justin Grant gathered a
17-0 tech fall over Dal
ton Towe to capture a
32-17 victory and the
first conference dual of
the season.
Brewton-Parker re
turns to the mat on Dec.
6 with a challenging con
ference dual at No.
2-ranked Life (Ga.) in
Marietta, Ga., at 7 p.m.
