A former daycare
worker suspected of com
mitting crimes of cruelty to
children has been released
on bond.
According to the Ly
ons Police Department,
Nicole Kathleen Cabrera,
21, has been released on
bond after being arrested
on Wednesday, December
27, at her home in Collins.
Authorities say that the
Tattnall County Sheriff’s
Office took Cabrera into
custody, bringing her to
the Toombs County De
tention Center, where she
was booked and charged
with nine felony counts of
cruelty to children and a
Nicole Kathleen Cabrera
misdemeanor count of bat
tery.
Lyons Police Chief
Wesley Walker said that
these charges are a result of
an investigation, which has
been actively conducted
since November. During
this investigation, law en
forcement discovered nine
victims under the age of
one who suffered scratch
es, abrasions, and bumps
on their heads.
Police were first alert
ed to this possibility of
child cruelty by the day
care, which had been no
tified by parents of one of
the victims that they felt
something was wrong. He
said that the daycare acted
quickly, alerting law en
forcement and terminating
Cabrera upon the begin
ning of the investigation,
as well as cooperating and
assisting authorities with
whatever was needed.
The situation will fur
ther develop as the active
investigation continues, as
Walker said he anticipates
more charges to come in
the case in the future.

truly the best Demo
crat running."
“In liberal states,
Democrats want to
give illegal migrants
health coverage
paid for by hard
working American
taxpayers who
struggle to pay their
own medical bills.
That is just one more
reason this nation
has a never-ending
flood of strangers
seeking govern
ment handouts."
“For those liberal
states now planning
to reimburse the de
scendants of slaves:
I am the descen
dant of Celtic slaves
owned by the Ro
man Empire on my
mother's side and of
Jewish slaves owned
by Egypt on my fa
ther's side. Does
that count?"
"Vidalia needs to
get its priorities in or
der for the safety of
its citizens. The resi
dential streets are in
very bad shape with
vehicle damaging
potholes and dips,
poor paving, and
faded reflective
road surface paint
lines, as well as ex
tensive missing street
name signs."
“I live on Julie Dr.
This morning my re-
cyclables were not
picked up because
some irresponsible
dog owners allow
their dogs to roam
freely, and as a re
sult a dog or dogs
turned over my re
cyclable container
last night, and the
contents were scat
tered in a 50 ft. ra
dius. I had a mess to
clean up and now I
must wait another 2
weeks for the recy-
clables to be picked
up, that is if my con
tainer is not turned
over again. If you
are a dog owner,
keep your dogs on
your own property if
that's not asking too
much."
“I loved Amber
Nagle’s article Hoo-
fin It' in The Ad
vance's Christmas
week newspaper. I
am 55, and it
seemed like I was
there with Amber on
that adventure. I
hope next Christmas
she does the Christ
mas story from the
Bible about Jesus's
birth in detail. That
would be awesome.
Thank you."
“Why was I told
my trash would be
picked up a day
late but they came
on the regular day
and now I'm having
to put up with gar
bage. I don't leave
my trash bin out side
the road. I pull mine
out on the trash day.
We need to correct
this problem."
“I think with all
this work going on
around Vidalia
some of us that had
to do without water
for 2 and a half days
and have 5 children
should get a cut in
the water pay since
we had to buy wa
ter so much. When
you have 5 children,
you need water. My
sons are having flats
on Durden St. That
needs to hurry and
be fixed."
