The Bulldogs of

on the hardcourt as their
basketball teams dropped
three of four games.
Wheeler faced off with
Bacon County on Friday
night on the road in Alma
and then were in Soper-
ton to take on the Vi
kings.
Girls vs. Bacon
A big first quarter
from Bacon set the tone
for the game as they
jumped out to a 21-5 lead
in the first. In the second
Wheeler kept up, but the
score was 35-16 with Ba
con on top at halftime.
In the third quarter
the Lady Raiders in
creased their lead to 48-
27, and they went on to
win the game, 60-30.
Boys vs. Bacon
The boys picked up
the only win of the week
as they defeated the Raid
ers on the road. The game
was close in the first
quarter with Wheeler up
by just two, 15-13 at the
buzzer. In the second
quarter, though, the Bull
dogs blew the game open
as they outscored the
Raiders, 21-6, giving
Wheeler a 36-19 lead at
halftime.
In the third quarter
Wheeler continued to
pull away and held a 51-
22 lead heading to the
fourth. Wheeler got the
subs in in the final quar
ter of the game, but took
the win, 59-40 over the
Raiders.
vs. Treutlen
Wheeler put up a
good fight in the girls
game, but the Lady Vi
kings were too much as
they took the win over
their rival. Treutlen won
the contest, 50-41. With
the loss the Lady Bull
dogs fall to 0-9 on the
year and they are 0-3 in
Region play.
The boys team also
fell to the Vikings.
Treutlen took the win,
66-58. The Bulldogs are
now 7-2 on the season
and they are 2-1 in Re
gion action.
This week Wheeler
hosted Hawkinsville on
Tuesday after presstime.
They will be back on the
court on Friday with Ba
con County coming to
town at 6:00 p.m. and
then on Saturday they

THE MAN
WITH THE
SIGN
BY GARY TOOLE
With all this
bragging and
bashing on
facebook good
stuff is being
rooted out ana
kicked to the
side. I can tell
you now.
Please under
stand that spe
cific gifts
comes from
God. Not everyone can play the
piano by ear as we say and not ev
eryone is a gifted writer. So among
all the trash I hope you get a chance
to read this about the man with a
sign. You may not know him but
God does. I looked in the obituary
and a class mate of mine died and
you know the obituary gives the
basic information and even some
times at funerals they give them a
rush job and most never really tell
the things that truly describe that
person and certainly not spiritually.
Now this mans name was in the
obituary by mistake and he called
up his friend and said, “Hey Fred
my name is in the obituary and I
ain’t dead.” His friend said, “Yea I
know and by the way just where are
you calling me from.” Got it! Well,
we know where the man with the
sign would be calling from. For
years on most any Friday afternoon
along hwy 280 along where the
People’s bank is you would see this
man with a sign or signs walking
back and to doing a long forgotten
way of spreading the word. Street
preaching. He held signs with
scripture or as the prophets of old a
message saying, “Prepare to meet
the lord!” Which that statement is
always true. Some probably
thought he was crazy as those when
Noah was warning them and how
that in the 1940 s when old preach
ers that couldn’t read or write and
had never seen a television warned
of the evil that would come some
day Say it ain’t true for the most
part and then in recent years older
preachers they called stupid be
cause of prophesying the dangers
and evils ancf wrongs to come with
so much of social technology and
now of this totally go green. Are
they wrong! Well, as president
Trump would say, “Nooooooooo!”
He likes to hold that no out. Me
too! Well, was this man with the
sign behind times and out of his
mind. Nooooooooo! They call
folks like me and the man with the
sign as fanatics. Well good, because
the word fan comes from fanatic
and I am an avid fan of our lord and
savior Jesus Christ and when I go
to die I won’t be calling on the
Georgia Bulldogs to come pray for
me but I will be calling on Jesus.
Amen! He did not carry picket
signs of greed nor protest signs of
ignorance. No my friend he was
carrying heavenly signs and pro
claiming the signs of the times.
This man with the sign was Larry
Smith. Thanks Larry! See ya!
