The Athens Republique Devoted to the Religious, the Economic, and the Industrial Development of the Colored Race Vol. 111. Cottage Hospital Asso ciation After Three Months Full Account of Tangible Ac tivities up to and Including December 21, 1921 We, the members of Cottage Hospital Association, wish to thank the good citizens, for their support given us in the beginning of a Negroes Hospital. Beyond a shadow of a doubt such an in stitution is not needed in Athens. If this be true there is work for alhof us to do. This little movement began its work September 15th. 1921 with only five members present. To-day we have a strong mem bership of 25, These members, are divided into Clubs. Club No. I, Mis. William Few, Charman. Club No. I, Bast Athens, Miss Susie Ealey, Chairman. Allen ville Club Mrs. Julia Wilkerson, Chairman, and Newtown Club Mrs. Walter Capers, Chairman. These clubs have done great work « towards fathering this great move ment. We wish to thank publicly Col. J. Thomas Heard for services ren dered us in forming cur Charter. Also Mayor E’wm for his kind deed in giving us 50 per cent on the cost of printing our Charter in the Athens Banner. Tne following is the financial ATHENS, GEORGIA, SATURDAY, JANUARY 14, 1922 stand of our first three months work of the Association: Total Amt. taken in $181.39 Totol Amt. paid out 19.23 Total Amt. on hand $162.10 Os this amount Club No. I, Mrs. Wm Few, Chairman, raised $27.80 East Athens Club 8.49 Allenville Club 5.00, Newtown Club 3.00 Total $44 ‘29 The balance was raised by enter tainments, and cards. We are hoping that 1922 will bring to the clubs a crowning success and that every citizen will try to do his part in making this movement a sucess. In every city the size of Athens, or even smaller, our people have some place to care for there loved oivs in the time of illness.
