Miss Eva Mae Harris, 681 N.
Lumpkin street, the little daugh
ter of Mr. C. O. Harris, who has
been confined to her bed with
measles, is doing nicely at this
writing.
News was received this morning
at the office of the Republique of
the illness of Mr. E. H. Harris, of
681 N. Lumpkin street. We wish
for him a speedy recovery.
Mrs. Mary Lou Jefferson Reid,
of Macon, Ga., was in the city
lasb week.
Miss Willie Powers, of Winter
ville, Had at her home Sunday,
Oit. 28th, six P. M., a reception. !
A menu of baked chicken, stuff

OBITUARY
Mrs. Lizzie Stokeley, of 386
Chase street, passed into the great
beyond Sunday, October 2 Bth,
1923 after a long illness. Mrs.
Stokeley was born in Oglethrope
i County. She and her husband,
i who preceded her to the grave last
year, came to Athens in their ear
ly married life and had lived here
ever since. To this happy union—
i which saw its second generation—
were burn the following children:
: Mrs. Odessa Hayes, ot Frankfort,
Ky., Mrs. Katie Huff, of Athens,
Ga., Mrs. Mattie Holmes, of
Athens, Ga., Geo r g e Stokeley,
Misses J ennie Lou and Mary
Stokeley, all of Athens,
The funeral was attended at
Hill's First Baptist Church, the
