Auditions set Nov. 9 for ‘God’s Favorite’
Church News
The Winder-Barrow
Community Theatre will hold
auditions for “God's Favorite”
on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 3 p.m.,
and on Monday, Nov. 10, at
6:30 p.m.
Auditions will be held at
the Colleen Williams Theater
in the Winder Cultural Arts
Center. If callbacks are
required, they will be held on
Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 6:30 p.m.
The cast requires five men and
three women, ages 20-60.
“God's Favorite” by Neil
Simon is based on the Book
of Job in the Bible. The play
takes place in a mansion,
where a tycoon, his wife, a
prodigal son, and a pair of
kookie twins live. One night a
messenger enters. Our modern
Job won’t renounce God, so a
fire is sent to wipe him out
factory and home. Everything
becomes a test of his faith.
Having lost everything, the
messenger arrives again to
test him.
The director of the play will
be Elinor Hasty, who is the
drama teacher at Apalachee
High School and has taught
drama for 30 years.
The show dates are February
27-28, and March 1, 6, 7 and
8, 2009. Rehearsals will be
held on Mondays, Tuesdays
and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.
Because the Thanksgiving
and Christmas holidays are
in the middle of the rehearsal
time, the full rehearsal sched
ule will be set after the cast is
chosen.
