Holiday event serves many functions The Barrow County Family Connections/Communities in Schools, Inc., on Nov. 6 host ed its annual “Beans, Bears and Band-Aids” event at the Winder Community Center. The event encompassed the kickoff of the Barrow County Holiday Connection toy drive (“bears”), a chili cook-off (“beans”), and the county’s annual health and human resources fair, Best of Barrow (“Band-Aids.”) Donors for the toy drive are encouraged to call the Holiday Connection Hotline at 770-868-4258. Items sought include new, unwrapped toys for children through age 18 as well as gift cards and cash. Volunteers also are needed. Applications for this won derful holiday assistance are available at the Barrrow County Department of Family & Children’s Services, the county health department, all public schools, Action Inc., and the Tree House.
