Looking back T he Apalachee High School football team qualified for the state playoffs for the third consecutive year under the direction of head coach Shane Davis in 2008. The Wildcats were honored earlier this week at their annual awards banquet. Chaun Gresham was named team MVP. Church youth groups will sing carols all over downtown! Register for the Downtown Shopping Spree Contest! There will be 12 lucky winners and you are welcome to register as many times as you’d like at all the participating downtown stores! Visit the newly restored Barrow County Museum in the Elistoric jailhouse on Athens Street! See displays and demonstrations of lifestyles throu ghout the 150 year history of the region! NOON Enjoy Laugh ing Pizza! Entertainment for the whole family! 2:00 p.m. The 60th Anniversary of the Downtown Christmas Parade wi th Mr. Roy Rice and Mrs. Evelyn Randolph - both of whom Celebrated their 100th b irthdays in 2008 - our Grand Marshals! Over 700 participants registered and close to 4,500 attendees are expected to line the route along Broad Street from Ingles Grocery Store to the Courthouse in downtown! 3:30 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive in downtown! (Santa will be in the Gazebo until 8 p.m. to talk to the youngsters). 5:45 p.m. Mayor Chip Thompson will light the Great Tree in downtown! 5:50 p .m. Free wagon rides to the Sanctuary of the Holy Spirit where the Church family, dressed in Dickens’ costumes will lead caroling and serve refreshments to the public on the front lawn of the church (corner of Center an d Midi and Streets).
