‘Once Upon a Time’ to be
presented this weekend
The Winder-Barrow
Community Theatre will pres
ent “Once Upon a Time,”
written by Jimmy Terrell, in
December.
The show will be presented
Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5-6,
at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec.
7, at 3 p.m., at the Colleen
Williams Theater in Winder.
“Once Upon a Time” was
written in 1984 for the the
atre group, and he is now
allowing the Winder-Barrow
Community Theatre to pro
duce the show again.
Tickets for children up to
age 12 are $5; and ages 13 and
up are $10. Santa will pose
with audience members for
photos after the show. Guests
are asked to bring their cam
eras to photograph their child
with Santa.
A portion of each ticket sold
will be donated to the Barrow
County Family Connection in
order to help provide toys for
needy children for Christmas.
A TUNA CHRISTMAS
The second weekend of
December will debut “A Tuna
Christmas,” a play for older
teens and adults and is a com
edy about the town of “Tuna”
in Texas. The residents of the
town are having a yard-deco-
rating contest for Christmas,
and you will meet all of the
residents during the show.
The Dec. 12 and Dec. 13
shows are at 7:30 p.m., and the
Dec. 14 show is at 3 p.m., at
the Colleen Williams Theater.
Tickets are $14 for seniors,
teachers, and older students.
Adults are $17.

Blood drives planned
The American Red Cross
and LifeSouth have planned
blood drives around the
Barrow County area.
RED CROSS
The American Red Cross
will hold the following blood
drives in Barrow County.
•Thursday, Dec. 11, from
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Magbee
Contractors Supply, 1065
Bankhead Highway, Winder.
•Friday, Dec. 12, from 8:30
a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Winder-
Barrow High School.
Through the end of the
year, blood and platelet
donors will be entered in
a contest to win a $1,000
gift card courtesy of the
American Red Cross.
Blood can be safely donat
ed every 56 days. Platelets
can be given safely every two
weeks, up to 24 times a year.
Most healthy people age 17
and older, who weigh at least
110 pounds, are eligible to
donate blood and platelets.

LifeSouth will hold a blood
drive on Monday, Dec. 15,
from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.,
at Hometown Community

All LifeSouth donors
through Dec. 15 will be
entered in a drawing to win
a Nintendo Wii, including
Wii Fit. All donors will also
receive a regular recognition
item, plus a reusable grocery
bag, a complimentary cho
lesterol screening and blood
typing, and 12 months cover
age in the LifeSouth Blood
Donor Benefit Program.

Trahan gets securities license
Rod Trahan of the finan
cial services firm Edward
Jones in Winder recently
earned his Series 66 license,
which enables him to main
tain an Investment Advisor
Representative (IAR) registra
tion.
To prepare for the Series 66
exam, which is administered
by the NASA, Trahan com
pleted a study program. The
100-question test, which must
be completed in 2.5 hours,
covers everything from rules
in the securities industry to
advising clients.
In addition to being Series
66 licensed, Edward Jones
financial advisors are required
to receive their Series 7 and
insurance licenses, enabling
them to offer clients a variety
of investment products.

Barrow Regional Medical Center.
Local girl cuts hair for non-profit group
A Hoschton girl has once
again donated her hair to
Locks of Love, a non-profit
group that provides hairpieces
to financially-disadvantaged
children suffering from long
term medical hair loss.
AnnaBelle Marie Abner
made her first donation to
Locks of Love in May 2007.
She made her second donation
in November 2008.
Abner plans to make anoth
er donation to the group in
a couple of years. She is
10 years old and is a stu
dent at Bethlehem Christian
Academy, Bethlehem. She
is the daughter of Ray and
Sonya Abner.

NEW COOKBOOK
Yargo group’s
cookbook
now on sale
The Fort Yargo Living
History Society has published
its first cookbook, “From the
Fort Yargo Cookhouse.”
This is the group’s first
public fundraiser. The cost
of the books is $10. It is
filled with recipes, some that
cannot be found any place
else. Many are straight out
of the past and most have
been made and enjoyed by
the living history society at
the fort.
The books can be found

Children of Barrow
The Barrow Journal will be publishing the
Christmas Children of Barrow in a special edition
on December 24. We want your child, or your
grandchildren, to be a part of this event. Your
Christmas child's picture can be published in this
issue.
• Children pictured must be 12 years old or younger and
live in Barrow County or have a parent or grandparent
in Barrow.
• Please list the child’s name, parents' names, living
grandparents’ names and town - space will be limited.
The Christmas Children of Barrow edition will
run on Wednesday, December 24, and the dead
line for pictures is Wednesday. December 10.
The cost is only $10 for a single child's photo that will
run one column wide, and just $15 for a group of chil
dren that will run two columns wide.
