Eddie Bailey, 71, of Statham
died Sunday, November 30,
2008.
Funeral arrangements will

Barbara
Graham
Barbara Tanner Graham,
77, of Winder, died Saturday,
November 29, 2008.
Born in Barnesville, she
was the daughter of the late
James Claude and Ada Bell
Hightower Tanner. Mrs.
Graham was an active mem
ber of Winder First Christian
Church and was a former
Sunday school teacher. She
was the owner and operator
of The Boutique Clothing
Store, and had been active
with the North East Georgia
Council of Girl Scouts and
the Barrow County Chamber
of Commerce.
Survivors include her hus
band, Ernest G. Graham Jr.,
Winder; son and daughter-
in-law, Ernie and Peggy
Graham, Winder; daughters
and sons-in-laws, Lynn and
David Hammond, Winder;
and Gayle and Mark Acuff,
Raleigh, NC; and grandchil
dren, Stephen and Kristin
Graham; Betsy Robinson; and
Ann Marie Graham.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, December 2, in the
Winder First Christian Church
with the Rev. Jim Brooks offi
ciating. Burial was in Rose
Hill Cemetery.

Martha Sue Wall
Martha Sue Wall, 65, of
Montgomery, Ala., died
Tuesday,
November
25, 2008.
A native of
Winder, she
had lived in
Alabama for
20 plus years
and was
employed by Price Rubber
Corporation for over 50 years.
She was the daughter of the
late Thomas H. and Martha E.
Harper Wall.
Survivors include aunts.
Dot Garrett and Doris Healan,
both of Winder; and many
cousins.
Funeral Services were held
Sunday, November 30, at
Smith Memory Chapel with
the Rev. Chris Parkin offici
ating. Burial was in Barrow
Memorial Gardens.

Sosebee Sr.
Richard Wayne Sosebee Sr.,
56 of Athens, died Thursday,
November 27, 2008.
Born in Barrow County, he
was the son of Cornelia H.
Sosebee, Athens and the late
Richard David Sosebee. He
was employed as a state cor
rections officer for over 30
years.
Survivors include sons,
Ricky Sosebee and Robby
Sosebee, both of Locust
Grove.
Funeral services were held
Monday, December 1, at
Smith Memory Chapel. Burial
was in Crest Lawn Cemetery,
Atlanta.

Carolyn Gentry
Carolyn Marie Gentry, 66,
of Winder, died Wednesday,
November 26, 2008.
Born in Fort Deposit, Ala.,
she was preceded in death
by her parents, was Baptist,
and a member of the Dacula
First Baptist Church, the Joy
Sunday School Class. She
was retired as a food service
worker with Winder Barrow
High School.
Survivors include her hus
band, Ernest Gentry, Winder;
sons and daughters-in-law,
Daniel and Cathy Gentry,
Auburn, Kenny and Kathy
Gentry, Greenville, S.C., and
Tracy Gentry, Winder; grand
daughter, Daniele Marie
Gentry, Auburn; brother
and sister-in-law, Renza and
Gayle Bowen, Alexander
City, Ala.; sister and brother-
in-law, Shirley and John Hull,
Melbourne, Fla.; and several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Sunday, November 30, at
Dacula First Baptist Church
with Pastor Mark Chandler
officiating. Burial was in the
church cemetery.

Billy McDaniel
Billy Fred McDaniel Sr.,
78, of Winder, died Thursday,
November 27, 2008.
Born in Barrow County, he
was the son of the late William
J. and Lillian Smallwood
McDaniel. He was a member
of Winder Wesleyan Church
and was a self employed brick
mason.
Survivors include his wife,
Pearl McDaniel, Winder; son
and daughter-in-law, Billy
Fred and Dawn McDaniel,
Lawrenceville; daughters
and sons-in-law, Yvonne and
Larry Cook, Ft. Mill, S.C.,
and Elaine and Eddie Wall,
Bogart; 10 grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Sunday, November 30, at
Smith Memory Chapel with
the Greg Moore officiat
ing. Burial was in Barrow
Memorial Gardens.

Jerry
Alexander
Jerry F. Alexander, 61,
of Winder, died Monday,
November 29, 2008.
He was the son of Mary
Alexander of Athens and the
late Robert E. Alexander.
He was a member of Chapel
Christian Church, and was
a self-employed automobile
appraiser. Mr. Alexander
was preceded in death by his
first wife, Jane Willoughby
Alexander.
Survivors in addition to his
mother include his wife, Karen
Smith Alexander; daughters
and sons-in-law, Tonya and
Chris Royal, Kelly and Jason
McDaniel, all of Winder; son
and daughter-in-law, Wes and
Hollie Baird, Royston; brother
and sister-in-law, Wayne and
Donice Alexander, Winder;
grandchildren, Alexa Royal,
Carson Royal, Chance Bragg
and Calin Baird.

Tuesday, December 2, in the
chapel of Carter Funeral Home
with the Rev. Jim Brooks offi
ciating. Burial was in Barrow
Memorial Gardens.

Beatrice
Langford
Beatrice Cruce Langford,
94, of Hoschton, died Monday,
November 24, 2008.
A native and lifelong resi
dent of Jackson County, she
was a member of the Hoschton
First Baptist Church and was
a retired seamstress. Mrs.
Langford was preceded in
death by her husband, T.C.
Langford Jr.; sisters, Grace
Patrick and Bertha Bryant;
and brothers, Hoyt Cruce and
Clarence Cruce.
Survivors include a daugh
ter, June Langford, Dahlonega;
grandson and wife, Tim
and Patty Pass, Braselton;
great-grandchildren, Pamela
Nichols, Winder, Molly Pass
and Timothy Pass, both of
Braselton; one great-great-
grandchild, Jenna Maynor,
Winder.
Graveside services were
held Wednesday, November
26, at the Hoschton City
Cemetery with the Rev. Ricky
Thrasher officiating.

John Scott
John A. Scott, 89, of Winder,
died Sunday, November 23,
2008.
A native of Jamaica, he was
the son of the late Alfred and
Ethel Henry Scott. He was a
retired cabinet maker.
Survivors include his wife,
Ivy Scott, Winder; chil
dren, Andrea Scott, Long
Island, N.Y., Randolph Scott,
Bushkill, Pa., John P. Scott,
Winder, Alfred Scott, Bronx,
N.J., Janice Wallace, Buford,
Richard Scott, North Carolina,
and Martin Scott, Virginia; 21
grandchildren; and four great
grandchildren.
Memorial services were
held Friday, November 28, at
the Barrow Worship Center
with the Rev. Charles Reece
officiating.

Phillips
James Phillips, 75, of
Hoschton, died Monday,
November 24, 2008.

Barrow Journal if the person is, or has been in
the past, a resident of Barrow County, works
in Barrow County now or did in the past, or is
a public official whose district includes all or
part of Barrow County.
A photo of the deceased will also be pub
lished for free if the obituary meets the above
requirements.
If the deceased does not meet the above
requirements, but has a close relative in Barrow
County, a shorter death notice will be pub
lished for free.

a funeral home or other official source and
edited by the newspaper.

A native of Barrow County,
he was the son of the late Frank
and Susie Garrett Phillips. He
was a retired carpenter and
was Baptist.
Survivors include children,
Susan Pugh, Hoschton, Sara
Jarrard, Braselton, Scotty
Phillips, Pendergrass, and
Sharon Holmes, Commerce;
sisters, Edith Gaillard and
Nikki Shannon, both of
Jefferson, and Brenda Lott,
Braselton; brothers, Ralph
Phillips, Melford Phillips,
Everett Phillips, Sam Phillips
and Jimmy Phillips, all of
Winder; friend, Sybil Phillips,
Jefferson; five grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren.

Wednesday, November 26, in
the chapel of Carter Funeral
Home with the Rev. Ronnie
Coley officiating.

of Commerce, Banks County,
died Monday, November 24,

Mr. Purdy
was the father of Johnny D.

Samuel Williams
Samuel Lee Williams, 30,
of Jefferson, died Tuesday,
November 25, 2008.
Born in Fulton County, he
was the son of Eddie Williams
Sr. of Jefferson and Vickie
Henderson of Toccoa. He
worked as a plumber most
of his life. He was a passion
ate and brave person; losing
his life in
the process
of saving
four others,
loved ones
stated.
Survivors
include
his wife.

a son, Kaden Williams,
Winder; grandfather, Harold
Henderson, Hollywood; broth
er and sister-in-law, Eddie and
Tina Williams, Dacula; sister
and brother-in-law, Tonya and
Casey Cason, Jefferson; and
many nieces and nephews.

held Friday, November 28,
at Bethabra Baptist Church
Cemetery.

Holland
Frankie R. Holland, 84,
of Jefferson, died Tuesday,
December 2, 2008.
Born in Jackson County, she
was the daughter of the late
Clyde and Margie Reynolds
Richardson.
Mrs. Holland was the
mother of Carolyn and Jimmy
Brewer of Statham, and the
sister of Mildred McNeal of
Hoschton.
Funeral services will be
held Friday, December 5, at
11 a.m., at the Walnut Fork
Baptist Church.
Burial will be in the church
cemetery. The family will
receive friends Thursday,
December 4, from 2 to 4 p.m.
and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral
home.

Ruby Shelton McClain, 88,
of Bostwick, died Thursday,
November 27, 2008.
Born in Morgan County
on September 21, 1920, she
was the daughter of the late
Herbert A. and Bertha Harper
Shelton.
Mrs. McClain was the
mother of Joyce and Jimmy
Dixon of Statham.

chapel of A.E. Carter Funeral
Home in Madison.

Ezra Winfred “Wimp”
Fowler, 72, of Danielsville,
died Monday, November 24,
2008, at his residence, follow
ing a courageous battle with
cancer.
Born in Bond Community
of Madison County on
January 18, 1936, he was the
son of the late Ezra and Livy
Berryman Fowler.
Mr. Fowler was the brother
of David Fowler of Auburn.

Friday, November 28, at the
