and IK fun run on Saturday,
March 28.
The 10K will start at 8 a.m.
and is a Peachtree Road Race

The race is a joint effort
of Operation One Voice and
the Reunion Golf Community,
which is located on Thompson
Mill Road, near Chateau Elan.
Each race will have a different
route through the community.
The American military will
be represented by as many
branches as possible, including
vehicles and displays. Since
Operation One Voice is a police
and firefighter-operated non
profit group, there will also
be representatives from local
police and fire departments.
The race will honor the
135 American soldiers from
Georgia that have “paid the
ultimate sacrifice.”
Awards will be given in each
category of the race.
Pre-registration fees are $18
for the 10K/5K, $50 for 5K
family of four and $12 for the
IK fun run. The fees on race
day are: $23 for 10K/5K, $65

reading and writing. These
tests are specifically geared
toward improving skills in all
these areas.
Also included are resume
and interviewing skills tests,

STUDENTS VISIT WORLD OF COCA-COLA
Stacie Conley and Tanya Foster’s fifth grade students at Bethlehem Christian
Academy recently visited the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta. The students were able
to experience a 4-D theater, the world’s largest collection of Coke memorabilia and a
fully functioning bottling line. The children were able to taste more than 60 different
Coca Cola products and have their picture made with the famous Coca Cola Polar
Bear. The students also learned the complete history of the Coca Cola Company.
JEMS renovations nearing completion
Eighteen months of plan
ning and construction on
Jackson Electric Membership
Corporation’s (EMC)
Jefferson District office build
ing will be wrapped up at the
end of January.
The building now has more
efficient workspace for dis
trict employees, a more cus
tomer-friendly environment
for cooperative members and
an updated William H. Booth
Auditorium for public use.
Renovations to the building
include workspace consolidat
ed and reorganized by work
group, more space for the dis
trict engineering and opera
tions group that is responsible
for the day-to-day operation
of the local electric distribu
tion system, a new system
control center that monitors
the cooperative’s entire dis
tribution system, adequate
meeting room and conference
room space, data wiring to
meet present and future state-
of-the-art technology needs
and a lobby that is both more
secure and more customer-
friendly.
“We know the community
has been missing the audi
torium,” noted Don Stewart,
Jackson EMC’s Jefferson dis
trict manager. “We’re pleased
to say that we’re now tak
ing reservations for February
events in the auditorium.”
The auditorium, which now
has upgraded audio controls
and a large screen for meet
ings, is available for civic,
community, non-profit and
church events at no charge.
“We’ve also found an addi
tional way to give back to the
local community by creating
space in the building for use as
a business incubator - a place
where new businesses locating
in this area can begin working
and interviewing personnel so
that they can get a head-start
in establishing their business,”
Stewart said. “We believe this
will be an economic develop
ment tool that can benefit the
entire county and are really
pleased to be able to provide
it,” Stewart said.
The building renovation
design is the work of Millard
Architects, Inc. of Roswell,
the same firm which designed
Jackson EMC’s recently com
pleted corporate headquarters
building in Jefferson. About
43,200 square feet of space
was renovated in the build
ing, which was constructed in
1980 as the new headquarters
for Jackson EMC.
