Photo by Jessica Brown Baseball Playoffs continued from IB “We know that the deeper we travel into the playoffs the tougher the teams will get,” said Diamond Dogg Taylor Keinat. “That being said, we will have to step up our game and play with our best effort. From the sounds of it, Pope is to have really good pitching and that excites us greatly. We always like the challenge of bet ter pitching and know that if we bring our bats like we did against Chamblee then we have full potential to win the series. I know this team has the heart and effort level to succeed, so all we need to do is bring all phases to the game, which would lead us to an Elite 8 spot.” Said teammate Grayson Ivey: “I think that if we play ball like we have been playing and make our routine plays, we will come out on top. They supposedly have a couple of good pitchers, but I don’t think it’s anything we haven’t seen. I have never doubted our team and, like I said, if we can just play to all of our potential, we will come out on top.” Pope, competing out of Region 5-AAAA, defeated Chattahoochee in the opening round in two games. The Greyhounds took 9-8 and 6-2 victories. Pope has won 15 of its last 17 games. The first game Wednesday has been set for 4:30 p.m with the second to follow. The third game of the series, if necessary, would be Thursday at 5:30 p.m. WBHS enters the second-round series 21-8 overall.
