WINDER POLICE
Teacher reports possible drug activity by school employee
A janitor was suspect of illegal drug
activity at a child care center on Maynard
Street last week after a pre-school teach
er reported that she thought he was
smoking marijuana by a dumpster.
According to a Winder Police
Department incident report written Sept.
21, a responding officer was unable to
recover any contraband items during a
search of the building's electrical room
and janitor closet.
The suspect was located cleaning out
one of the classrooms. An officer asked
to have a word with the man, and when
the he removed a handkerchief from
his front right pocket, a small container
reportedly fell to the floor.
The officer retained the container until
another officer arrived in a school admin
istrator's office. Inside of the container
were a small amount of green stems and
seeds.
The suspect was asked to empty the
contents of his pockets. The man said he
did not have any dangerous items, only a
“marijuana pipe.”
An officer inspected the pipe and a
small, green, foil bag marked “Green
Giant” potpourri. He opened the green
foil bag and found a similar substance
to what was found in the cylindrical
container. After unscrewing the end of
the pipe, he also detected an odor he
believed to be burnt marijuana.
All field tests of the substances found
in the cylindrical container, green foil
bag and the remaining contents of the
pipe were negative.
Asked what he did with the “pot
pourri,” the janitor said he smoked the
substance with the intent of inducing “a
buzz.”
The officer advised the man that the
substance was not unlawful to possess
or use in the State of Georgia and that he
was then free to go. The man reportedly
spoke with the school’s staff and then left
the building.
The officer told the staff that no unlaw
ful items were recovered. He also gave
them a brief description of the substance
the janitor claimed that he was smoking
and that he said he used the substance to
induce “a buzz.”

SHERIFF’S OFFICE ARREST REPORTS
BRASELTON POLICE
Neighborhood dispute involves several people, no arrests made
A Barrow County Sheriff's
deputy was dispatched to
report harassment on Vinings
Court in Winder. While en
route, another subject called
911 to make a terroristic
threats report the at same
address.
According to the incident
report, the deputy went to talk
to a man first, who reported
the harassment.
The man said he has been
having issues with the sub
jects standing at the top of the
street for over a year.
He said threats have been
made, property has been dam
aged, drug activity is going
on, and now they are sexually
assaulting his juvenile child
when she comes outside to
play.
The deputy then made con
tact with a 19-year-old female
who called the sheriff’s office
about the man allegedly mak
ing acts of violence toward
her and the other subjects.
The female teen said that
the man has a drinking prob
lem and puts up cameras to
watch what they do on a daily
basis. She claimed the man
has looked in their windows
and knocked on the front door
of their houses to accuse them
of selling and doing drugs.
The deputy spoke with
the man again, who said his
daughter was sent back inside
as soon as they started making
sexual remarks. He said no
one else was around to hear
the remarks made by the sub
jects. The camera system used
by the man was located on
his garage and did not record
what took place under it or
inside the garage. The man
said he would get a copy of
the footage, but it was going
to take him a few days due
to his computer system. The
deputy told the man to make
sure he stays on his property
and not to point any weapons
at his neighbors.
The man said he did not
even have any weapons and
would never make a threat
like that.
The deputy then attempted
to explain what was going on
to the young subjects. He was
able to explain to the female
that she needed to get the man
on video making threats with
his hands and/or weapons for
the sheriff’s office to make a
criminal case because there
are no laws against having a
firearm on your own property,
being intoxicated on your own
property or being rude to oth
ers on your own property.
The group continued to
get louder and louder. They
reportedly made comments
to have the news media get
involved and they said they
were contacting the sheriff.

Man with paranoia stopped
found with multiple knives
A man with a mental histo
ry was walking around down
town Braselton early Friday
morning with several knives
in his pocket, according to an
incident report.
An officer stopped the
39-year-old man at the inter
section of Frances Street and
Harrison Street around 1:15
a.m. on Friday. The man
said he was walking around
because he didn’t want to be
at his house.
When the officer asked the
man if he had any weapons,
the man said he had sever
al knifes. The officer patted
down the man and removed
three pocket folding knives.
The officer gave an emer

driver's information and the
dispatcher asked the officer to
call her back.
During the phone call, the
dispatcher said the man has a
history of mental illness and
requires medication.
The officer asked the man
about his mental illness and
the man said he takes medica
tion for paranoia.
The officer said he didn’t
feel comfortable with the man
walking around the street with
knives while being treated
with medication for mental
issues, according to an inci
dent report.
The officer explained to the
man that he was taking his
knives until the man’s doctor
provided a note saying he is
mentally capable of walking
around on the streets with all
of the knives, the officer wrote
in his report.
The officer gave the man
a case number and said the
knives would remain at the
police department for safe
keeping.
