WBHS, AHS bands receive superior ratings
Both Barrow County high school marching
bands continued a long tradition of excellence
during recent competitions. The Winder-B arrow
High School Marching Bulldogg Band earned
its 28th consecutive “Superior” rating for its
performance at the Eagle's Nest Invitational
in Lawrenceville. And, the Apalachee High
School Marching Wildcats scored their 12th
“Superior” rating in a row at the Northgate
High School Valhalla Classic in Newnan.
In addition, every unit in the WBHS Marching
Band, including brass, color guard, percussion
and woodwinds, earned “Superior” ratings.
AHS drum majors Stephanie Calhoun and
Savannah McElreath were awarded “Superior”
ratings; the Wildcats drum corp and color
guard both earned “Excellent” ratings.
In other good news from the bands, two
WBHS seniors, Brice Bouffard and Samantha
Chase, have been chosen to march with the
2012 U.S. Army All-American Marching
Band. Only 125 of the top marching band and
color guard members in the nation are selected
for this honor.
They will perform in San Antonio, TX
on Jan. 7 during the 2012 U.S. Army All-
American Bowl halftime show, which will air
at noon on CST.
