Mart armed with knife charged with battery family violence

Statham police officers
responded to a domestic
dispute last week at 462
McCarty Road where a sus
pect was armed with a knife
and reportedly mentally
unstable.
According to incident
reports, Sigfredo Flores, 19,
of 462 McCarty Road Lot
No. 9B, was taken into cus
tody Nov. 6 on two charges
of battery family violence
1st offense misdemeanor
and criminal trespass. A
The Barrow County Sheriffs
Office arrested 52 individuals
between Oct. 31 and Nov. 6.
An arrest occurs when an
officer has probable cause to
believe that a crime has been
committed or if a person com
mits a crime in an officer's pres
ence. An arrest is not a convic
tion of guilt.
The following people are or
were being held at the Barrow
County Detention Center.

Winder. The homeowner said
her juvenile son had asked what
the emergency number was and
that she thought he had dialed it
on his toy phone. The woman
said she and her husband had
started teaching the child how
to dial the number.

Matthews School Road, Winder.
A woman said a neighbor saw
an unknown subject walking
alongside her mother's house
toward the back of it.
•accidental damage on East
Avenue, Winder. A woman
said she came home to find the
storm door to her house had a
broken window, but there was
no damage to the house. It was
valued at $200.
•simple battery on Englewood
Road, Winder. A woman called
911 to report she was woke
up to a neighbor attacking her
daughter’s boyfriend. The vic
tim reported he was asleep in
his track in the driveway when
he saw his attacker and exited
the track to confront him. He
was struck in the face with a
closed fist, he said, although he
did not want to press charges.

McGuire Road, Statham. A
woman suspected a couple
asleep on her couch had sto
len prescription medication and
$55 from her purse. A deputy
woke the couple up, searched
their belongings and checked
their records. The victim's
items were not found, but the
female suspect was discovered
to have three valid warrants for
her arrest.

Admiral Circle, Statham. A
man called to report his 2001
Chrysler minivan was dented
while it was parked in the cul de
sac in front of his residence.
•entering auto on Boss Hardy
Road, Auburn. A man reported
two 30-foot sections of cop
per wire were missing from his
property.
•aggravated assault on Old
Hog Mountain Road, Auburn.
A man said a Boss Hardy Road
man accused him of stealing
copper wire from his residence.
•a courtesy report on
Manning Way, Winder. A depu
ty was dispatched to meet with
a man at the fire department in
Bethlehem, in order to follow
him to his ex-wife’s house to
return his daughter from visita
tion.
•a financial transaction card
fraud report on Hannah Court,
Winder. A man said he received
a call from his banking institu
tion advising him of suspicious
activity usage with his debit
card. He learned there were six
fraudulent charges using his
debit card account on this report
date.
•a deer accident on Ga. Hwy.
211. A Snellville man reported
he was near the area of Chateau
Elan when he hit a deer. A depu
ty met him in a Hoschton shop
ping center and noticed damage
done to the man's driver side
front fender and hub cap.
•a warrant service at the
Winder Police Office on Broad
Street. A deputy was dispatched
to the Winder Police Department
in reference to a wanted person
at their location wanting to turn
himself in the suspect was taken
to the Barrow County jail.
•DUI-alcohol on Dee Kennedy
Road, Winder. A deputy pulled
over the driver of a 2002 Honda
CRV for failing to stop at a
stop sign and reported smelling
alcohol coming from inside the
vehicle.
•a 911 hang up on Warpath
Road, Statham. Central commu
nications advised a responding
deputy that they could hear small
children playing on the phone.
The deputy asked a residence if
any of their children had access
to a phone. The woman said the
children had a cell phone, but it
did not have a service plan.
•warrant service on Akins
Road, Statham. A sheriff's dep
uty assisted the Statham Police
Department with an escort to
a residence for a man who had
two outstanding warrants out of
Barrow County for felony pro
bation violation.
•a 911 hang up on Cedar
Creek Court, Winder. A man
said he had his phone in his
pocket and had the screen
locked. Somehow the phone
dialed 911. The man said he did
not realize the phone could still
dial emergency numbers while
the screen was locked.
•a theft by taking on Cajon
Lane, Bethlehem. A man called
911 to report an old drinking
water fountain and 3 pieces of
tin were stolen from his resi
dence.
•a 911 hang up on Jeffords
Road, Winder. A resident said
everything within the residence
was OK and no emergency
existed.
•a civil dispute on Anchors
Way, Winder. A man’s mother
called 911 to report that her
son’s soon-to-be ex-wife showed
up to retrieve some clothes from
his house. A deputy talked to the
husband on the phone, who said
he told his wife not to come to
the residence because his moth
er was there babysitting and he
feared the two women would get
into an argument. The woman
then told the deputy that she
would leave and contact law
enforcement to escort her there
again once her husband returned
from work so there would not be
an argument.
•damage to property on Carl
Bethlehem Road, Bethlehem. A
deputy on patrol talked to the
owner of a trailer he saw on the
side of the road with the axle
disconnected underneath the
right side tire.
•a 911 hangup on Jones
Road, Statham. A woman said
her five-year-old was playing
on the phone, but he was in
bed now.
•a reckless vehicle on Twelve
Oaks Drive, Winder. A resident
in the Matthews Plantation sub
division called 911 to report a
Mustang entered the subdivi
sion on Halloween at a high rate
of speed. The subdivision was
full of children and parents trick
or treating. A deputy responded
with the Mustang's information
and drove through the subdivi
sion, but did not make contact
with the driver.
