Charlotte’s School of Dance.
The concerts were dedicated
in memory and honor of Miss
Charlotte’s mother, the late
Ms. Regina Wolf.
Sixty members of the per
forming groups from the
school, The Charlettes, the
Junior Charlettes, and the Mini
Charlettes, opened the shows
with a dynamic tap routine
to “That’s Entertainment.”
Students from preschool to
adults participated and danced
in the productions. Four shows
were presented to capacity
crowds.

Charlotte’s School of Dance

fall classes.

Loganville, Ballet, tap, lyri
cal, jazz/hip hop and clogging
for children 3 years of age
and up through adult will be
offered.

RADIO DONATION
The Barrow Amateur Radio Club has donated two
weather alert radios to Barrow Regional Medical
Center. B.A.R.C. and Barrow Regional Medical Center
work together as community partners. These two
radios will be monitored 24/7 in order to alert the
hospital of severe weather in the area. B.A.R.C.
meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m .at
Barrow Regional. Making the presentations on behalf
of B.A.R.C. were Mike Wolcott, club president; Bill
Wilson, vice president; Cal Neff, emergency coordina
tor and Nancy Wolcott, B.A.R.C. member. Accepting
the weather radios on behalf of Barrow Regional
were Stephanie Sorrells, marketing director: Charlie
Hollins, emergency planning coordinator; Joshua
Self, COO and Heather Phoel, ED Director. For more

Arts center offers kids ’ classes
The Hoschton Heritage Arts Center will offer creative
classes for kids one Saturday each month, from July untf
December.
The classes include “Mosaics for Kids,” on July 21, froir
9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; “Repurposed Junk Art” on Aug. 18, from 5
a.m. to 1 p.m.; “Award Winning Scarecrows” on Aug. 23, froir
2-4 p.m. or 6-8 p.m., or Aug. 30, from 2-4 p.m.; “Halloweer
Pinatas” on Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; “Pumpkin Carving
101” on Oct. 27. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; “Fall Leaf Art” or
Nov. 17, from noon to 4 p.m.; and “Christmas Gifts anc
Ornaments” on Dec. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Each class is $25 per participant and includes supplies.
“Each child will go home with a finished product, as well as
make one for the arts center.” said Astra Graham, one of the
HHAC board members who realized the need for classes foi
children. “No artistic ability is required.”
The seven classes are intended for children ages 7-12. A
Christmas party will be included. The classes are limited tc
10 participants.
A Christmas party will also be on Saturday, Dec. 15
from 2-4 p.m. for the kids that took classes and their family
Cookies and milk will be provided to celebrate the end o1
the 2012 Creative Classes for Kids. Photos of classes and the
projects will be on display.
“The jewelry vendors did very well at the arts festival or
June 2,” said HHAC board member Debra Brooks. “So I askec
Lillian Hicks of LH Designs to teach at our arts center.”
The “Introduction to Beading” class will meet on two eve
nings, Aug. 15 and Aug. 22. 6:30-8:30 p.m. The class is $40
for HHAC members and $60 for nonmembers. The $20 supph
fee should be paid the first night of the class and includes wire
needles and beads.

Brooks House to be featured on
WSB Care-A-Thon broadcast
The House family of Barrow County will be part of the 12th
annual WSB Care-a-Thon that will broadcast live Thursday.
July 26, and Friday. July 27, on AM 750 and 95.5 FM (WSB)
radio.
7-year-old Brooks House and his parents, Michael and
Dana House, will share their personal story during the broad
cast to help raise money for the AFLAC Cancer & Blood
Disorders Service of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Brooks, was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare bone
cancer that primarily strikes children, in June 2011. He had
a tumor on his jaw removed and underwent several surgeries
and chemotherapy.
Louis C.K. to perform in Athens
Emmy and Grammy-award winning comedian Louis C.K.
— creator, executive producer, director, editor and star of FX
Network’s critically-acclaimed series “Louie” — will per
form a special engagement, Louis C.K. Live at The Classic
Center on Friday, Nov. 30.
Tickets for all shows are $45 (inclusive of all fees) and are
on sale now exclusively available at Louis C.K.’s website,

Louis was nominated for four 2011 Emmy awards for
“Louie” and his standup special “Hilarious,” including out
standing lead actor in a comedy series, outstanding writing for
a comedy series, outstanding picture editing for a special and
outstanding writing for a variety, music or comedy special.
