The crash remains under

Scott Dakin of Barrow

crash. Despite golfers

“There was just a small
fuel leak and the pilot was

The Federal Aviation

Worley sentencing
delayed until Jan. 6
By Chris Bridges
Journal Editor
The waiting game continues for former
Barrow County commissioner Steve Worley.
Worley, who pled guilty to one count of brib
ery last summer, has had
his sentencing delayed
once again. The new sen
tencing date has been set
for Jan. 6. Worley was
set to be sentenced last
week but that decision
was delayed.
The former Barrow
County District 3 com

illegal conduct with a

ness during his time as
the city's Public Works
Director. He worked for the City of Monroe for
more than 15 years.
Worley faces up to 10 years in prison and a
possible fine of $250,000. The former commis
sioner, a resident of Bethlehem, was indicted by
a federal grand jury in April.
A special election to fill the District 3 vacan
cy, paid for by the taxpayers, was won by Roger
Wehunt, who has now been on the BOC for the
past couple of months. The investigation into
Worley was handled by the Athens office of the
Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The office will also be closed Friday, Jan.
