The study looked at current cost and revenue data from the county’s water and sewerage systems and concluded that the county should raise its wastewater rate by 30 cents per unit per year for eight years. That would increase the typical bill for 5,000 gallons per month from $25.41 to $32.61 at the end of eight years. For customers who only use the coun ty’s wastewater system and not its water, the proposal called for a 60 cent hike per unit. The report also called for the county to increase its non-contract price for whole sale water to $2.96 per gallon. Retail water rates would remain the same. In addition to raising those rates, the study also said the county should look for ways to better manage its metering sys tem to reduce water losses and it should seek ways to sell more water. cZwnmesi Pomade. The Center, or the old R&R building, has been used by the City of Auburn for storage of numerous items including the Christmas deco rations. Plans are underway for renovation work to start soon on the Center and therefore another location is needed for storage. The council, at the meeting on June 16, approved purchasing two 53-foot trailers for $6,900 from American Trailer Exchange in Conyers to be used as storage facilities. The trailers will be parked at the city’s public works building. Funding for the trailers will come out of the government buildings account. Public works director David Hawthorne said he checked into renting eight 10x15 storage units and the cost would be $12,000 per year.
