MISS SOPHOMORE JCCHS’ Miss Sophomore students are (L-R): Lannah Voyles, Christa Beth Vaughn, Asia Watson and Cambrey McDaniel. This year’s homecoming theme is the 1960s, with “Peace, Love and Panthers.” Other events during homecoming week include college apparel day, twins day, 1960s day, and a spirit day and pep rally. A dance is planned for Saturday night. WJPS celebrates 100th student ‘caught being good’ SWEET REWARD Lane Galloway, the 100th student caught being good at West Jackson Primary School, receives his free ice cream from Cathy Patrick, owner of Little Hooties Dippin’ Parlor in Hoschton, as employee Jessica Gunter looks on. The faculty and staff members at West Jackson Primary School are keeping their eyes open for students who are “caught being good.” So far, 100 students have been honored for being good, according to school leaders. Each child who is “caught being good” is recognized on the morning news show, has his/her picture and good deed posted in the school and earns a free ice cream from Little Hooties Dippin’ Parlor in Hoschton. Lane Galloway, a kindergartner in Allison Dixon’s and Marjorie Hudman’s class, was the 100th student caught being good. To celebrate the honor, Galloway earned a limousine ride to Little Hooties for lunch and ice cream. Galloway was accompanied by his mother, his brother Nathan, his teachers and the principal. More than $20 from each $25 license tag fee will go the divi sion’s Georgia Heritage Grant Program, which provides fund ing to help preserve significant historic buildings and sites owned by local governments and non-profit groups. In the past, Shields-Ethridge Larm in Jackson County has received a total of $35,000 in Georgia Heritage Grant project funds. The farm received grant funds in 1996, 1997 and 2004.
