Jimmy Bruce
Lula
Jimmy Bruce, 67, of Lula, died
Sunday, October 21, 2007, at
Northeast Georgia Medical Center
in Gainesville, following a sudden
illness.
He was the son of the late Lynn
Howard and Grace Anderson Bruce,
and attended Lula Worship Center.
Mr. Bruce was preceded in death by
a daughter-in-law, Gail Bruce.
He was the best husband, dad and
granddad ever, loved ones stated.
Survivors include his wife, Susie
Bruce, Lula; daughter and son-in-
law, Opal and Randy Gilleland,
Lula; sons, Buck Bruce and Darren
Bruce, both of Lula; five grandchil
dren; seven great-grandchildren; a
brother, Efford Bruce, Dahlonega;
sisters, Cathy Anderson, and Eldie
Gee, both of Gainesville.
Funeral services will be held
Thursday, October 25, at 2 p.m., in
the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral
Home with the Revs. Bobby Griffin
and Grady Saxon officiating. Burial
will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends
Wednesday, October 24, from 2 to
4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral
home.

Betty Ruth Goza
Lilburn
Betty Ruth Cain Goza, 79, of
Filbum, died Saturday, October 13,
2007, following complications from
a stroke.
She was born in Tucker, the
daughter of Emma and Darling
Cain. Mrs. Goza was preceded in
death by sisters, Virginia Brooke
and Elaine Smith; and grandson,
Daniel Goza.
She graduated from Tucker High
School in 1945, where she received
many honors in academics and bas
ketball. She worked as a secre
tary at West Georgia, Florida State
University and Georgia Peabody
College for Teachers. After retiring,
she and her husband were involved
with the Bluebird Recovery of
Georgia, and was a founding mem
ber of Bluebirds over Georgia. She
enjoyed tennis, and started the first
metro Atlanta USTA 3.0 team for
beginning seniors in 1987. She was
a member of Filbum First Baptist
Church.
Survivors include her husband,
“Tip” Goza, Filbum; son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Fee and Jennifer Goza,
Jefferson; daughter, D’Cain Marker,
Snellville; grandchildren, Annie
Goza, Rachel Goza, Timothy Goza,
Kellie Goza, Michael Goza and
Matthew Goza, all of Jefferson, and
Brittany Marker, Snellville; broth
ers and sister-in-law, Armond and
Bonnie Goza, Tucker, and Robert
Brooke, The Rock; brother-in-law,
Pat Fewis, Fawrenceville; and sev
eral nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, October 16, in the Bill
Head Funeral Home, Filbum/Tucker
Chapel, with Dr. Truitt Gannon and
Mrs. Susan Rumble officiating.
Burial was in Pleasant Hill Baptist
Church Cemetery in Tucker.
Memorial contributions may be

Lucy Boswell
Winder
Fucy Grace Boswell, 85, of
Winder, died Tuesday, October 16,
2007.
Born on August 11, 1922,
in Jackson County, she was the
daughter of the
late Marion Eligha
and Mary Iowa
Thomas. She was a
homemaker, retired
from Fyons Textile,
and was a member
of the Momingside
Baptist Church
in Winder. Mrs.
Boswell was preceded in death by
her husband, Elmer Harold Boswell;
and a son, Jerry Boswell.
Survivors include daughters
and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Joe
Swain, Talmo, and Wanda and
Roger Patrick, Winder, Helen and
Mike Martin, Cornelia, Patsy and
Farry Howard, Maysville; daughter-
in-law, Mary Boswell, Commerce;
10 grandchildren; seven great
grandchildren; several nieces and
nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Friday,
October 19, in the chapel of Evans
Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert
Whitehead officiating. Burial was
in Dry Pond Methodist Church
Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joey
Gee, Ray Howard, Matthew Martin,
Fester Puckett, Juan Hernandez and
Jay Gutiberrez.

was in charge of arrangements.

Zachary Hudgins
Infant Zachary Gage Hudgins
died Friday, October 19, 2007.
He was the son of Katie Bafile
and Jason Hudgins.
Survivors in addition to his par
ents, include brothers, Apache,
Fuke and Sebastian; sister, Summer;
maternal grandparents, Jerry and
Teresa Deason, Gainesville, and
Ricky Bales, Clermont; paternal
great-grandparents, Dottie and
Randy Cronic, Homer.
Graveside services were held
Monday, October 22, at Yellow
Creek Baptist Church Cemetery
with Pastor Joyce Gowder officiat
ing.

Jack Sims
Statham
Jack Nowell Sims, 82, of Statham,
died Wednesday, October 17,2007.
Bom in Barrow County, he was
the son of the late John Clarence
and Muzette McElroy Sims. Mr.
Sims was preceded in death by
siblings, Vera S. McFocklin, Billy
Sims, Joyce S. Holliday, Inzanell S.
Parrish and Sara S. Thomas.
Survivors include a sister and life
long caregiver, Virginia S. Hunter,
Statham; brother, John I. Sims,
Statham; 20 nieces and nephews;
many great-nieces and great-neph
ews; and a number of great-great-
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday,
October 19, at Smith Memory
Chapel with the Rev. George Seacrist
and nephew, Billy Skaggs, officiat
ing. Burial was in Hebron Christian
Church cemetery. Pallbearers were
nephews, Harry Sims, Jim Sims,
Hank Thomas, Farry Hopkins, Tab
Hunter and Tony Hunter.

Leroy Bruce
Jefferson
Feroy Bruce, 78, of Jefferson,
died Sunday, October 21, 2007, at
BJC Nursing Home in Commerce.
Bom in Banks County on
September 16, 1929, he was the
son of the late Homer and Mary
Fou Fove Bruce. He was a retired
store owner and member of Church
of God.
Survivors include sons, Dean
Bruce, Jefferson, Gene Bruce,
Pendergrass, and Fynn Bruce,
Maysville; brothers, Horace Bruce,
Pendergrass, Swayne Bruce and
Grady Bruce, both of Holly Springs;
sister, Betty Samples, Maysville;
six grandchildren; and seven great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, October 23, in the cha
pel of Fittle-Ward Funeral Home
with the Revs. Terry Chambers and
Dwayne Major officiating. Burial
was at Pendergrass Baptist Church
Cemetery in Pendergrass.

Nicholson
Timmy Wood, 27, of Nicholson,
died Tuesday, October 16, 2007,
from injuries received in an auto
mobile accident.
Born in Jackson County, he
was the son of Billy Joe Wood of
Nicholson and the
late Shirley Gaddis
Wood.
Survivors in
addition to his
father include a
daughter, Hannah
Wood, Winder; sis
ter, Crystal Feon,
Nicholson; girlfriend, Barbara
Nash, Athens.
Funeral services were held in the
chapel of Ivie Funeral home Friday,
October 19, with the Rev. Kelby
Maxwell officiating. Burial was in
Howington Cemetery in Nicholson.

Jefferson
Charles “Junior” Cain, 79, of
Jefferson, died Saturday, October
20, 2007.
Bom in Jackson County, he
was the son of the late Zed and
Fonnie Fee Cain. He was a retired
machine opera
tor for the Georgia
Department of
Transportation
and was a member
of White Plains
Baptist Church.
Mr. Cain was pre
ceded in death by a
daughter-in-law, Brenda Cain.
Survivors include his wife,
Beatrice Shannon Cain, Jefferson;
daughter and son-in-law, Gail and
Farry Banks, Jefferson; son, Steve
Cain, Jefferson; sisters, Marty Cain
and Carol Voyles, both of Jefferson;
brother, Gene Cain, Jefferson;
adopted son and daughter-in-law,
George and Jackie Petrisko; grand
children and spouse, Kyle Banks,
Russell Jordan, Kelli Banks and
Chad Wehunt, and Tiffany and
Brittany Petrisko.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, October 23, at White Plains
Baptist Church with the Revs. Kevin
Page, Jack Fawson and Bascom
Skelton officiating. Burial was in
the church cemetery. Pallbearers
were Kyle Banks, Russell Jordan,
Terry Turner, Randy Johnson, Otis
Skelton and Chad Wehunt.
