Holiday events
set in Flowery
Branch
Flowery Branch will light its
Christmas tree on Thanksgiving
night, Thursday, Nov. 22, at 5:45
p.m. with a brass ensemble.
A prayer service and choir will
be featured at 6 p.m.
Also, “A Flowery Branch
Christmas” will be held on
Saturday, Dec. 1.
Festivities will begin at 1 p.m.
with a Christmas parade and Santa
at the depot until 4 p.m.
The event will also feature a
magician, a balloon artist, face
painting, an inflatable jump and
guest vendors.
The events are sponsored by
Flowery Branch Better Hometown.

Qasses offered
at Village
Nursing Care
The first of a series of monthly
classes in first aid and CPR are
now available for enrollment, with
the initial class set for Saturday,
Dec. 1, at Village Nursing Care in
Gainesville. Participants who com
plete the session will be awarded a
certificate.
Taught by Michele Brock, who
is certified by the American Heart
Association, both classes are open
to all ages and require no prereq
uisite certification.
The classes are $35 each, or
$50 for both. Class size is limited
and the deadline for registration
is Friday, Nov. 23. Future class
schedules will be announced later.
The first aid class is scheduled
8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., and the
CPR segment is set for 1-5 p.m.

Toys being collected to benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
Toys to benefit patients at
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
at Egleston are being collected
by Danielle Austin and Dawn
Jones.
New toys in their packages
— either wrapped or unwrapped
— may be dropped off at one of
two locations until Friday, Dec.
14.
Toys may be dropped off at
the Braselton Town Hall with
Austin, who is an employee
with the town. For more infor

Toys also may be dropped
off at the Gwinnett Justice
Administration Center with
Jones. For more information,

donated toys will be gathered
in the community room of the
Braselton Police and Municipal
Court Building on Friday, Dec.
14, from 6-9 p.m. The toys will
be taken to the children’s hospi
tal on Saturday, Dec. 15.
The toys will be given to
patients and used in playrooms
and prize boxes at the hospital.
Prize box toys should be from
a dollar store, and include items
such as plastic animals, sticker
books, airplanes, balls, make
up, princess items and match
box cars.
The following list contains
requested items from the hos
pital’s child life specialists and
will be used in playrooms:
•Books: sound books, “I spy”
books, ‘“sudoku” puzzle books,
crossword/word search puzzle
books, coloring books and
watercolor books
•Arts and crafts: Playdo,
markers, Crayons, construction
paper, sketch pad, jewelry kits,
model cars with glue and paint,
scrapbooking paper with stick
ers and supplies and books,
stickers, Crayola wonder activ
ity books, markers and paints,
$1 store craft kits and fuzzy
posters to color
•Infant toys: anything that
makes noises and lights up.
Bumbo seat, exersaucer and
infant Boppy
•Playroom and clinic toys:
plastic doll house furniture and
dolls, plastic dinosaurs, plastic
animals, action figures (without
small pieces), Lego Bionacles,
puzzles (24, 63, 100 piece),
boardgames (Life, Battleship,
Sorry, character editions, Uno,
Uno Attack), cars, trucks, trac
tors, all plastic baby dolls, little
tykes riding toys and Barbie
dolls
•Electronics: dance, dance
revolution, Playstation 2 games,
Gamecube games, new release
DVDs (G, PG, PG-13), V-Tech,
hand held games and computer
games
•Therapeutic/distraction
toys - Nerf guns, basketball
goals, dart boards, magnetic
dart boards, blow-up punching
bags, Lisher Price doctor kits,
bubbles, 20-question games,
remote control cars, laptop toys
(V-tech, Bratz, Barbie, educa
