Teen’s birthday party causes stir in Hoschton
A teen’s birthday party in Hoschton had some
uninvited guests, according to a Hoschton
police report.
Police received a call on Friday that a large
crowd of kids was about to fight in the road
way of Joshua Way. All of the suspects fled
when they heard a police siren, according to
an incident report.
Police were told that when some older boys
arrived for the party, another boy got upset and
started threatening them. There was no actual
fight, police said.
A Hoschton officer talked to the teens at the
party, who gave him the same story.
There was also an allegation of underage
drinking at the party, police said. The officer
found one person who was drinking under the
age, and cited that person. The mother who
was hosting the party did not authorize anyone
to drink at the party, police said.
HOSCHTON INCIDENTS
The following incidents were reported to the
Hoschton Police Department last week:
•water restrictions violation at a Serenity
Court address, where an officer said police
received a complaint of a man washing his
SUV in the driveway. The officer said the
vehicle was wet and water was in the drive
way. The resident told the officer he washed
his vehicle at a car wash. The resident was
issued a warning and told about current water
restriction regulations.
•terroristic threats and acts at a GA. Hwy. 53
address, where a woman told police that a man
tried to buy rolling paper. When she refused
to sell it to him, the man became angry. When
a sheriff’s deputy who was in the store left,
the man returned and asked the woman to
sell him the papers. She refused again and the
man started yelling offensive statements to
the woman, police said. The man threatened
to run over the woman while she was getting
a license plate number as she was talking to
a 911 operator, police said. The man left on
Hwy. 53.
•suspicious activity at a Hwy. 53 address,
where a woman told police that she heard a
very loud noise at her back door, like some
one was trying to break into her house. The
woman was standing in her front yard and
was crying when police arrived. A Hoschton
officer and two Braselton police searched the
area, but didn’t find any suspects. Police said
there were no shoe or foot prints on the back
door, and no signs of tampering the door.
Hoschton police continued to drive through
the area looking for possible suspects.
•DUI traffic stop near Jefferson, where a
Hoschton officer stopped a suspected drunk
driver. A Hoschton officer was returning to
Hoschton from Jefferson, when he said the
vehicle in front of him couldn’t maintain
his lane and was swerving dangerously. The
Hoschton officer stopped the vehicle until a
Jefferson officer could arrive. In the mean
time, the Hoschton officer said he could smell
cigarette smoke and a faint odor of alcohol
coming from the vehicle when he questioned
the driver.
•unsecured door at a Hwy. 53 address,
where an officer said a door was open at an
office. The officer called the owner and she
secured the office.
•residential alarm at a Deer Creek Trail
address, where a burglary alarm was sounding.
A door was not secured by the residents and
the alarm company canceled police response.
•found property around Lake Burton, where
a man called Hoschton police to report that he
found a wallet belonging to an Atlanta woman.
The man dropped off the wallet with Hoschton
police, who contacted the victim’s credit
union. The victim later called Hoschton police
to make arrangements to get her wallet.
Woman delivers papers, loses car at Braselton Kroger
A Gainesville woman told Braselton
police that she went inside Kroger last
week to deliver newspapers, and when
she returned to the parking lot, a man was
seen driving her vehicle toward Friendship
Road.
The woman told police she was a few
weeks behind in payment of her vehicle.
She also said there was a wrecker in the
parking lot.
BRASELTON ARRESTS
The Braselton Police Department made
the following arrests last week:
•Mikhaic Panasyuk, 22, 4523 Nohl Ridge
Road, Flowery Branch, seat belt violation,
driving while license suspended or revoked,
operating a vehicle with a suspended regis
tration, no proof of insurance, operating an
unregistered vehicle or without a current
license plate, revalidation decal or county
decal.
•Jorge Loya Barraza, 28, 119 Carl Lane,
Shelby, N.C., DUI, failure to maintain lane,
driving while unlicensed or expired license
and window tint violation.
BRASELTON INCIDENTS
The following incidents were reported to
the Braselton Police Department last week:
•gas drive-off at the Pilot Travel Center,
where a man pumped gas and was later
told his credit card was declined. The man
left the store before an employee could get
information about his vehicle.
•vehicle fire on Hwy. 53, where a trailer
blew a rear tire and caused pine straw inside
his trailer to catch on fire. The fire was
extinguished and there were no reports of
damage to the nearby Golden Pantry gas
station.
•entering an automobile and theft by tak
ing at the Waffle House on Ga. Hwy. 211,
where a man said he was inside eating at
the restaurant when someone got into his
unlocked vehicle and stole medication that
was sitting in plain view.
•domestic dispute at the Waffle House
on Hwy. 53, where an officer checked on a
couple that was in the process of breaking
up at the restaurant.
•criminal trespass at Gabriel’s on Hwy.
211, where a woman told police that a rear
door to the store had its lock drilled out.
There was no entry to the business.
•traffic stop on 1-85, where an officer
found less than an ounce of marijuana on
a driver. The driver allowed the officer to
search him after questioning him on pos
sible drug or alcohol use. The driver was
warned about driving too fast and the mari
juana.
Six people arrested for BB gun vandalism in Hall County
The perpetrators responsible for thousands
of dollars in damages to residential, business,
and vehicles windows in Hall County over
the last few weeks have been caught and
arrested, the sheriff’s office announced.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office — along
with the Gainesville Police Department,
Gang Task Force (G.T.F.), Multi-Agency
Narcotics Squad (MANS) and the Flowery
Branch Police Department — have identi
fied and arrested six people responsible for
a majority of the BB gun vandalism that has
occurred in South Hall and Gainesville over
the last month.
To date, there have been 45 incidents
reported to the Gainesville Police Department
and 30 incidents to the Hall County Sheriff’s
Office.
Flowery Branch police received a tip
on Friday that led agents with the Gang
Task Force (G.T.F.) and the Multi-Agency
Narcotics Squad (MANS) to the location of
three suspects involved in the incidents.
Upon interviewing those three suspects,
other suspects were identified and a BB gun
and several C02 cartridges believed to have
been used in the incidents were recovered.
The 30 incidents in Hall County resulted in
$14,350 in property damage.
All six individuals were taken into custody
without incident.
The sheriff’s office charged each of the
following people with 21 counts of criminal
trespass and nine counts of criminal dam
age: Adam R. White, 17, Oakwood; Robby
C. Simmemon, 18, Gainesville; Jessica E.
Hedger, 19, Gainesville; Joshua M. Smith,
19, Gainesville; and Laura D. Boggus, 17,
Gainesville. A 16-year-old female from
Gainesville was also charged with 18 counts
of criminal trespass and 11 counts of criminal
damage.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office’s crimi
nal investigation division is still investigating
the case.
Heater, hand tools taken
from vehicle in Hoschton
A kerosene heater and small hand tools were taken from a vehicle
parked at a McEver Lane, Hoschton, address last week, according to
an incident report filed at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Other incidents reported to the sheriff’s office last week were:
•several items taken from a van at a Zion Church Road, Braselton,
business.
•100 pounds of copper wire taken from a Valentine Industrial
Parkway, Pendergrass, work site.
•tools taken from a truck at a Tanner Lane, Nicholson, address.
•a Hwy. 15, Jefferson man, said he let a woman borrow and a truck
and she will not return it, as he asked her to do.
•a man attempted to use a stolen credit card at a Banks Crossing
business.
•checkbook taken from an Old State Road, Pendergrass, location.
•a South Jackson business owner said a former employee is using a
fuel card that he is no longer allowed to have.
•trespassing at a Brock Road, Athens, residence.
•garage door opener taken from a Ridgeway Church Road, Braselton,
address.
•a Maysville man said he was driving on Hwy. 98 and something
struck his vehicle and damaged it.
•several items taken from a Belle Springs Road, Athens, residence,
•attempted burglary at a Hwy. 330 residence.
•burglary at a shop on Belle Springs Road, Athens.
•copper wire taken from a home under construction on Meadow
Lake Terrace, Hoschton.
•terroristic threats at an Oakley Court, Athens, address.
•an Athens woman said she was driving on Hwy. 129 when someone
threw a rock at her car and damaged it.
•vehicle fire at a Herman Drive, Commerce, address.
•a Maysville woman said her boyfriend locked her in the house and
threatened her.
•prescription medication taken from a New Liberty Church Road,
Braselton, address.
•lock cut on a gate at a Davenport Road, Braselton, location.
•porch screen cut at a Masters Way, Athens, residence.
•washer, dryer and go cart taken from a Baker Road, Maysville,
location.
•a Silverwood Drive, Gillsville, woman said someone broke a win
dow at her residence.
•hit and run accident at a Banks Crossing business.
•harassing phone calls at a Brockton Oaks Drive, Jefferson, loca
tion.
•hit and run accident at a Hwy. 82 South, Jefferson, business.
•a woman said a neighbor threatened her.
•vehicle fire at a Chandler Cemetery Road, Maysville, location.
•a Pocket Road, Braselton, man said his neighbor’s dog came into
his yard and began fighting with his dog.
•a Timber Ridge Drive, Athens, man said dogs came into his yard
and killed one of his rabbits.
•dispute between two men at a Jennings Lane, Nicholson, address,
•vehicle fire at a Galilee Church Road, Jefferson, location.
•dispute between several people at a B. Wilson Road, Commerce,
address.
•a Nicholson man said a woman he had been dating stole prescrip
tion medication from his residence.
•simple assault at a Nicholson residence when a woman tried to
leave the man she had been living with. She said he grabbed her by the
hair and struck her several times.
•a Hoschton woman said a man she used to date has been harassing
and threatening her.
•a Nicholson woman said her brother has her vehicle and will not
return it.
•couple fighting on the side of the road at a Hwy. 82 location.
•a Golden Nugget Way, Maysville, woman said her sister threatened
her.
•verbal dispute and trespassing at an Athens residence.

Pine straw catches on fire
The West Jackson Fire Department responded to a trailer full of pine
straw on fire last week.
Firefighters said pine straw was burning in the trailer parked near the
intersection of Ga. Hwy. 53 and Zion Church Road. A safety area was
established, since the fire was located near fuel pumps.
Firefighters pulled pine straw from the trailer and extinguished the fire
using 1,800 gallons of water.
