‘Sue’ Huff
Winder
Lizzie “Sue” Huff, 88, Winder, died
Tuesday, November 13, 2007.
Bom in Oconee County, she was
the daughter of the late Timothy and
Ellen Ogletree Michael. She was
a member of Winder First Baptist
Church. Mrs. Huff was preceded in
death by her husband, M.B. Huff.
Survivors include daughters and
son-in-law, MarthaMcCombs, Tampa,
Fla., Mary and Amoal Watkins,
Norcross; grandchildren and spouses,
Rhonda and Mills McKee, Honolulu,
HI, Chris McCombs, Sumter, S.C.,
Kevin McCombs, Tampa, Fla.,
Andrea Watkins, Staten Island, N.Y.,
Holly and Jacob Rutledge, Hoschton;
one great-grandchild; a sister, Jean
Letson, Davie, Fla.; and two broth
ers, Donald Michael, Bishop, and
Talmadge Michael, Athens.
Funeral services were held Friday,
November 16, at Smith Memory
Chapel with the Rev. John Burchfield
officiating. Burial was in Barrow
Memorial Gardens.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, was
in charge of arrangements.

Andy Hicks
Braselton
Andy Alan Hicks, 38, of Braselton,
died Wednesday, November 14,2007,
from injuries received in an automo
bile accident.
Bom in Hall County, he was the son
of the late Jack Anderson and Frances
Wilson Hicks. He was a member
of Blackshear Place Baptist Church,
where he taught the Special Needs
Sunday school class. Mr. Hicks was
preceded in death by a sister, Frankie
Hicks.
Survivors include his wife, Kelli
Wilson Hicks, Braselton; daugh
ter, Jackie Hicks, Braselton; sister
and brother-in-law, Gail and Ronnie
Hart, Cleveland; sister, Ann Cantrell,
Clarkesville; brothers and sisters-in-
law, Dennis and Shelby Hicks, Billy
and Sharon Hicks, Jerry and Lisa
Hicks, Michael and Vicki Hicks, all of
Gainesville; Roger and Anneta Hicks,
Buford; mother-in-law, Barbara
Wilson, Braselton; and many nieces,
nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Sunday,
November 18, in the chapel of
Memorial Park Funeral Home with
the Rev. Jeff Crook officiating. Burial
was in Memorial Park Cemetery
Park.

ments.

Grace Britt
Hoschton
Grace P. Britt, 91, of Hoschton,
died Tuesday, November 13, 2007.
Bom in Forsyth County, she was the
daughter of the late Allen and Rosa
Wood Parker. She was a homemaker
and a member of Cross Point Baptist
Church in Duluth. She was a member
of Calvary Baptist Church in Atlanta
for 70 years. Mrs. Britt was preceded
in death by her husband, Willis Edgar
Britt; and a son. Bud Britt.
Survivors include sons, Frank
Britt, Hoschton, and Fred Britt, St.
Mary’s; daughters, Lillian Morgan,
McDonough, Betty Williams,
Covington, Jenny Meadows, Greer,
S.C., and Carolyn Mitchell, Oxford;
18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchil
dren; and 10 great-great-grandchil
dren.
Funeral services were held
Thursday, November 15, at Smith
Funeral Home with the Rev. Lance
Sperring officiating. Burial was
at Mellwood Cemetery in Stone
Mountain.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, was
in charge of arrangements.

Mattie Evans
Winder
Miss Mattie Evans, 94, of Winder,
died Wednesday, November 14,
2007.
A native of Jackson County, she
was the daughter of the late Thomas
and Sallie Fields Evans.
Survivors include a sister, Lillian
Evans, Winder; and a number of niec
es and nephews.
Graveside services were held
Friday, November 16, at White Plains
Baptist Church Cemetery with the
Rev. C.T. Evans officiating.
Carter Funeral Home, Winder, was
in charge of arrangements.

Louise McDaniel
Winder
Louise McDaniel, 68, of Winder,
died Saturday, November 17, 2007.
She was the daughter of the late Fred
Eugene and Gladys Ree Whitehead
Baker, and a member of Pleasant Hill
Presbyterian Church. Mrs. McDaniel
was preceded in death by her hus
band, Lamar McDaniel.
Survivors include sons and daugh-
ter-in-law, Tony and Becky McDaniel,
Bogart, Steven McDaniel and spe
cial friend, Marie Reidling, Winder;
grandchildren, Emily and Brittney
Bogart, and Sara Nix, Jefferson; and
special friends, Sara Casper, Statham,
and Edward and Carol Taylor,
Athens.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
November 20, at Smith Memory
Chapel with the Rev. Dave Fahner
officiating. Burial was in Barrow
Memorial Gardens.

in charge of arrangements.

Steven Thigpen
Statham
Steven Paul Thigpen, 44. of
Statham, died Thursday, November 8,
2007, following injuries received in a
train accident.
He was the son of Dalvin and
Livinia Thigpen.
Survivors in addition to his parents,
include his wife, Shelia Thigpen;
daughters, Cassy Thigpen and Andrea
Thigpen; step-children, Albert and
Christina; and five brothers and sis
ters, Kathy Day, Lawrenceville, Cindy
Davilla, Winder, Sandy George,
Statham, Dalvin Thigpen Jr., Dacula,
and Charles Thigpen, Blairsville.
No services will be held.

Mae Wall
Statham
Mae Y. Wall, 87, of Statham, died
Thursday, November 15, 2007.
She was bom in Maysville, the
daughter of the late John and Lillie
Sisk Youngblood. She was a mem
ber of Calvary Baptist Church in
Statham and was a retiree of H &
H Manufacturing Company. Mrs.
Wall was preceded in death by a
sister, Jessie Damron; and brothers,
Erastus, Ossie, Marvin, Guy and J.B.
Youngblood.
Survivors include her husband of
67 years, Edmond H. Wall, Statham;
son and daughter-in-law, Clarence
and Jean Wall, Statham; granddaugh
ters and spouses, Dana and Andy
Lowe, Milledgeville, Leigh and Tim
Strickland, Statham; great-grandchil
dren, Cameron and Spencer Lowe,
Milledgeville, Raliegh andMcKennon
Strickland, Statham.
Funeral services were held Saturday,
November 17, in the chapel of Carter
Funeral Home with Dr. Ronnie
Healan and the Rev. Dave Fahner
officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill
Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

‘Pat’ Minish
Demorest
Patricia Ann “Pat” Holcomb
Minish, 64. of Demorest, died Friday,
November 16,2007, at the Habersham
County Medical Center.
Bom on October 30,1943, in White
County, she was the daughter of the
late Clarence and Hassie Palmer
Holcomb. She was retired from Orbit
Manufacturing with 30 years of ser
vice and was Baptist. Mrs. Minish
was preceded in death by a sister,
Hazel Banks, and brother, Delmer
Holcomb.
Survivors include her husband,
Bobby Minish, Demorest; daugh
ter and son-in-law, Sherry and Tom
Treffinger, Greenville, S.C.; son,
John David Minish, Demorest; sis
ter, Lucille Kinsey, Cleveland; broth
ers, Reynolds Holcomb, Demorest,
and Huel Holcomb, Gainesville; two
grandchildren, Sarah Beth Treffinger
and Laura Treffinger.
Funeral services were held Sunday,
November 18, at Whitfield Funeral
Home with the Rev. Anthony Shore
officiating. Burial was in Yonah
Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may
be made to the St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place,
Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1905.

Doris Owens
Jefferson
Doris Jane Owens, 87, of Jefferson,
died Friday, November 16, 2007.
Bom in Johnson County, Ind., she
was the daughter of the late Murrell
and Gladys Moore McCollum.
She was a member of Winterhaven
Christian Church in Winterhaven,
Fla., was a minister’s wife, a partner
in church building ministry, a pianist
and a poet.
Survivors include her husband,
Herbert Owens, Jefferson; sister and
brother-in-law, Nola and John Isley,
Hoschton; niece and nephew-in-law,
Elizabeth and Bruce Ouiggle; sev
eral other nieces, nephews, and great-
nieces and a great-nephew.
Burial was at Second Mount
Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in
Franklin, Ind.

in charge of arrangements.

Jewell Gaither
Jefferson
Jewell (Syrup) Gaither, Sr., 67, of
Jefferson, died Wednesday, November
14,2007, at University Nursing Home
in Athens.
Bom on September 6, 1940. he was
the son of the late John Henry and
Lillian Gaither.
Survivors include his wife of 47
years, Dorothy Ann Rucker; children
and spouses, Jewell Gaither Jr. and
Janiece Gaither, Spring Hill, Tenn.,
Lillie Ann Gaither and Regina Gaither,
both of Athens, Marvin Lee Gaither,
Jefferson, Brenda and Garnet Bailey,
Gainesville, Tyrone Gaither and
Karen Gaither, both of Commerce,
Margaret and Ron Myers, Prattville,
Ala.; a brother, John Henry Gaither
Jr., Commerce; sisters and brother-
in-law, Lille and Bobby Wilhite,
Commerce, and Dorine Faulkner,
Homer; seventeen grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; and a host of
nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday,
November 17, at Neal’s Grove Baptist
Church in Commerce, with the Rev.
Johnny F. Smith, pastor, officiating.
Pallbearers were Tommy Morris,
Randy Wilhite, James Roebuck, Joe
Swinney, Lamar Jones and Orlando
Brock. Burial was in the church cem
etery.

Toccoa, was in charge of arrange
ments.

John Brown
Winder
John D. Brown, 62, of Winder, died
Saturday, November 17, 2007.
A native of Fulton County, he was
the son of the late Grady and Ruth
Bullard Brown and was a retired
painter.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis
Boyd Brown, Winder; children, Robert
Christopher Brown and Rebecca
Diane Brown, both of Winder, and
Lynn Brown Burton, Toccoa; grand
children, Aaron and Abby Brown,
Kim Burton and Jennifer Burton;
great-grandchildren. Trey, Trevor,
Javian, Trinity and Haley; a sister,
Brenda Bentley, Fairbum.
Graveside services were held
Tuesday, November 20, at Bethabra
Baptist Church Cemetery with the
Rev. Donnie Pennington officiating.

in charge of arrangements.

Ralph Edge
Hoschton
Ralph Douglas Edge, 55, of
Hoschton, died Tuesday, November
13, 2007.
He was bom on November 5, 1952,
in Hall County, and was the son of
Martha Collins Edge and the late Ralph
A. Edge. He was formerly employed
with Chicopee Manufacturing
Company and the Synthetic Industry.
He was a wonderful and dear spouse,
son, brother, uncle, friend and will be
greatly missed, loved ones stated.
Survivors, in addition to his mother,
include his wife, Lynn Thompson-
Edge; sister and brother-in-law, Pat
and Wayne Voyles; nephew and
spouse, Jason and Linda Voyles;
special great-niece, Hannah Voyles;
special cousins, Sandra and Robert
Olive and Vickie and Dwayne Lee;
and many cousins, aunts, uncles, and
friends.
A celebration of his life was held
Friday, November 16, at the home of
Pat and Wayne Voyles in Hoschton.
Private graveside services will be held
at a later date.

Union Church Rd., Flowery Branch,
GA 30542.
