SANTA ROLLS IN
Santa makes an appearance at YearOne’s car show in November, where gifts and money were col
lected for Holiday Connection Jackson County.
YearOne collects gifts, money for charity
Braselton’s YearOne Inc.,
recently held a charity car show
to collect new toys and money
for Holiday Connection Jackson
County.
“I think it’s important to give
back to your local community,”
said YearOne President Kevin
King, “And this is a great cause
that we’re happy to help.”
YearOne hosts a car show the
third Saturday of each month
from April through October, with
the final show in November, usu
ally held in conjunction with
Christmas In Braselton (Christmas
in Braselton was moved back a
week this year, after YearOne’s
show schedule was made).
YearOne hosts the car shows
in the parking lot of its Braselton
facility, donating its labor and reg
istration fees collected from show
car owners (spectator admission is
free). Each month’s proceeds are
donated to a different local charity
or national organization.
For November’s show, the vehi
cle registration fee was a brand
new, wrapped children’s toy.
“Every child needs to get a toy
for Christmas,” King said.
Some show-goers opted to give
money in lieu of a toy, and several
hundred dollars was collected and
donated, to be put towards Holiday
Connection Jackson County’s win
ter coat drive for children.
Additionally, the Braselton
Woman’s Club was on hand hold
ing a bake sale, with their pro
ceeds going to a college scholar
ship fund.
Santa made an appearance,
showing up on a red custom
chopper motorcycle, escorted by
Braselton police.
“Rudolph and the other reindeer
are saving their energy for the big
game,” Santa explained.
The show wrapped up at dusk,
with the signature burn-out con
test, with cars smoking their rear
tires in a specially-equipped area
of YearOne’s parking lot built just
for such activities.
YearOne is the nation’s largest
supplier of restoration and perfor
mance parts for American muscle
cars.
Locally owned and operated,
YearOne moved from Tucker to
Braselton in 2003.
