A CHRISTMAS CLASSIC
The Gwinnett Ballet Theatre Orchestra will be performing live during seven of the ballet’s shows.
Gwinnett Ballet Theatre to present The Nutcracker’
The Gwinnett Ballet Theatre has announced its
live musical performances for the production of “The
Nutcracker.”
The Gwinnett Ballet Theatre Orchestra, under the
direction of Predrag Gosta, will return for seven of
the 11 public performances. The performances will
include a live orchestra, which is composed for 30
professional musicians from across the Southeast.
Performances featuring live music will be held on
Saturday, Dec. 8, at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; Sunday,
Dec. 9, at 2:30 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 14, at 7:30 p.m.;
Saturday, Dec. 15, at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday,
Dec. 16, at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students and
seniors for live music performances. They are $20
and $15 respectively for recorded music performanc
es. Group rates are available.

Emergency personnel to hold toy drive

Chateau Elan donates funds to library
The 18th annual Lighting of the Chateau on Nov.
23 brought the excitement and charm of a winter
holiday to Chateau Elan Winery and Resort.
More than 35,000 lights outlining the buildings,
vineyards, and manicured grounds, plus a flurry of
Christmas-themed activities and special packages
marked the beginning of holiday festivities at the
3,500-acre resort.
Prime beneficiary of this year’s Lighting of the
Chateau is the new Braselton Library, which received
a portion of the proceeds amounting to $5,000 from
Chateau Elan.
Book signing planned in Hoschton on Dec. 8
Santa Claus and Sparky are
teaming up again this year in the
third annual Empty Stocking
Toy Drive in Barrow County.
Joining them in the fund-rais
er will be the Barrow County
Fire and Emergency Services,
Barrow County Sheriff’s
Office, and the Barrow County
Community Emergency
Response Team (CERT).
The drive will be held
the first three Saturdays in
December. Santa and Sparky
will be in subdivisions through
out Barrow County. Personnel
and units from the fire depart
ment and sheriff’s office will
join them. There will also be
members of the CERT team
helping out and showing there
Christmas spirit.
The Empty Stocking Toy drive
will accept new, unwrapped
toys for children up to 18 years
old.
The toys will then be sorted
and some will be given to the
children that spend Christmas
at Peace Place, a shelter for
woman and children. The
remaining toys will be given to
Public Auction

the Holiday Connection.
Every toy that is donated to
the drive will be given to needy
children in Barrow County.
If the drive does not make
it to each subdivision, resi
dents may drop off donations
at any Barrow County fire sta
tion. Those who want to make
a monetary donation may make
checks payable to the Holiday
Connection. The volunteers
conducting the drive will be
collecting checks, as well.
“I am hoping that with the
citizen’s help, every child in
Barrow County will wake up
to a great Christmas and have
toys under the tree,” said Lt.
Scott Dakin of the Barrow
County Department of Fire and
Emergency Services. “With
everyone’s help we can make
that happen.”
The Northeast Georgia Writer’s
Club, along with Luna Coffee
House, will host a book signing
on Saturday, Dec. 8, from noon
to 1 p.m.
The event will be held at Luna
Coffee House, located in the square
in Hoschton, at 20 Bell Ave.
Several local authors who con
tributed to the book will be on
hand for autographs.
“Our Journey” includes selec
tions from well-known author
Gloria Stargel. Stargel has many
publications in books, such as
“Chicken Soup for the Soul” and
“Guidepost.”
Braselton author Ruthanna
Kilpatrick-Bass, who is also fea
tured in the book, invites everyone
to attend.

the Gainesville square and the
Northeast Georgia History
Center’s gift shop, all located in
Gainesville.
