Bom in Barrow County, he was the son of the late Mack Conrad and Annie B. McDaniel I Wells. He attended The BWS Church of Winder and was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force. Survivors include a son, Tim Wells, Decatur; one grandchild; sisters, Velda King and Reba Brewer, both of Winder, Janet L. David, Bethlehem. Bom in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Hattie White Grier. She was a seamstress and a mem ber of Zion Baptist Church. Mrs. Baird was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Lee Baird; daughter, Clarice M. Wheeler; son. Jack W. Baird. Survivors include sons, Randall L. Baird, Gillsville, Terry R. Baird and Norman Baird, both of Braselton; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild. He was a native of Barrow County and was the son of the late E.T. Thrasher, Sr., and Bessie Pierce Thrasher. He was a retiree of the Stepan Company and was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Thrasher. Mr. Thrasher was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. Survivors include his wife, Mary Thrasher, Winder; children, Leslie Thrasher, Carlton, and Pant Parker, Winder; sister, Evelyn Hanson, California; five grandchildren; and two great-grand children. Joy. He was born in Jackson County, the son of the late Guy and Vada Skelton Roberts. He was an active member of the Hollysprings United Methodist Church, having served in various positions, and was a member of the Men’s Club. He was a member of the Jackson County Cattlemen’s Association, a founding director of the Plainview Fire Department, United Auto Workers Local #10 member, former council member of Sugar Hill, Jackson County Farm Bureau member, Kester’s Breakfast Club member, and a Maxon. He retired from General Motors, was a cattle and poultry producer, and served in the United States Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Bridges Roberts, Pendergrass; sons and daughters-in-law. He was bom on November 23, 1916, in Aledo, Ill., and lived in metro Atlanta for the past 47 years. He was a member of the Hoschton United Methodist Church, as well as a charter member and chairman of the building and ground com mittee for nearly 38 years at the St. James United Methodist Church in Atlanta. He was a World War II veteran, and would readily tell you of his war experiences and pride in serving his country as an aviator. After the war, he entered the insurance industry in southern Illinois, and later moved to Atlanta, where he served as an insurance executive for many years. He was past president of the Southeastern Claims Association, and retired from American Southern Insurance Company. He was loved by his family, friends, and business associates for his quick wit and incredible kindness, loved ones stated. Mr. Weeks was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Vivian; and a son, David J. Weeks. Survivors include a son and daugh- ter-in-law, James Daniel and Kathryn Weeks, Hoschton; daughter and son-in- law, Nancy and Elmo Fortune, Signal Mountain, Tenn.; grandchildren, Rachel Weeks Whitaker, Angie Weeks, Josh Giles, Isaac, Joe, Jennifer and Jocelyn Weeks; great-grandchildren, Katie Lynn, Donna Joe, Faith Ann, Brayden and Brianna; brother, Eddie Weeks, Aledo, Ill.; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a member of the Winder First United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Ann B. Pilgrim, Winder; sons, Thomas M. Boyd, Lawrenceville, and William G. Bom in Gadsden, S.C., she had lived in the metro Atlanta area for the past 12 years. She was a homemaker, a member of the Air Force Association, member of the Eastern Star, and member of St. Mary and St. Martha Episcopal Church in Buford. Mrs. Seanor was a veteran, hav ing served in the United States Air Force, where she served as a Sgt., and was one of two women from South Carolina chosen for Air Force service. She was born on February 6, 1914, in Banks County, and was the daughter of the late Logan Sylvester, Sr., and Lena Stephens Smith. She was a gradu ate of Baldwin High School and was a member of the Broad River Baptist Church. She was a retired teacher with the Habersham County School System with several years service, a member of the AARP, and member of the Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Wilbanks was preceded in death by her husband, Telford R. Wilbanks; daughter, Priscilla Waters; grandson, Kevin Galloway; sister, Isabel Ervin; and brothers, Bruce, Happy and Clayton Smith. He was a vet eran, having served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II, having served as a member of the West Coast Defense Command. He was a member of the Hebron Lodge #564 F.& A.M. and the Red Hill Chapter #417 Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Barrett was preceded in death by a brother, John Barrett; sisters, Kathleen Hulsey and Rosa Lee Barrett; and a grandchild, Christopher Poole. He was a self-employed dry wall installer and was Baptist. Mr. Helton was preced ed in death by his grandfather, William Armour. She worked for the Chestatee Regional Library during the 1970s and 1980s, and was affectionately known as the “Bookmobile Lady”. She was a mem ber of Flowery Branch Baptist Church for 79 years. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil "Barefoot” Williams; grandson, Marc Williams; son-in-law, Irvin Peck; brother, Clarence Bagwell; and a sister, Leona Waldrip. She was a retired spinner with the Jefferson Mill and was Baptist. She enjoyed being a mother, grand mother, mentor and friend to everyone, loved ones stated. Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her husbands, W.P. Neese and Dewey Holmes; a son, George Odell Neese; daughter, Shirley Denise Holmes; two brothers; and two sisters. Vernelle Hubbard Lula Vernelle Maney Hubbard, 65, of Lula, died Monday, December 3, 2007, at her residence following an extended illness. Bom in Banks County on July 20, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Vera Crumley Maney. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and attended Cornelia C.H. Church. She enjoyed spending her time gardening and reading, according to loved ones. Mrs. Hubbard was also preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Lord. Survivors include her husband, David Hubbard, Lula; sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Robin Hubbard, Watkinsville, Cary and Tina Hubbard, Gainesville; sis ters and brother-in-law, Brenda and Harold Cash and Gwen Maney, all of Homer; brother-in-law, Mike Lord, Commerce; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 5, in the chapel of McGahee- Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Revs. Ross Palmer and Tony Royston officiating.
