Attaway, Pityer to wed Dec. 29
Lee and Patsy Attaway, Braselton, announce the engagement and
forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Laura Leigh Attaway, to Richard
Michael Pityer Jr., Hoschton, son of Rick Pityer, Sunrise, Fla., and Elaine
Pityer, Lilbum.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Holland
McEver and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Attaway.
Miss Attaway is a 1991 graduate of Jackson County Comprehensive
High School. She attended Toccoa Falls College and is employed by the
Jackson County Board of Education as a kindergarten paraprofessional at
North Jackson Elementary School.
The future groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Guy Trawick
and Selma Harkleroad, Rossville, and the late G.M. Pityer.
Mr. Pityer is a 1989 graduate of Norcross High School and attends
Shorter College. He is employed by 1 st Class Roll Off, Buford.
The wedding is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007,
at Hoschton First Baptist Church. All family and friends are invited to
attend.

Ashley Renee Hooper and Hugh
Colby Cornelson, Gainesville,
were united in marriage October
6, 2007, at The Chimneys, Big
Canoe, with the Rev. Paul Evans
officiating.
The bride is the daughter of J.
Kevin Hooper and Cathy Duke
Hooper, Gainesville, and is the
granddaughter of Joe and Sarah
Davis, the late William (Bill)
Duke and the late Boyce and
Edith Hooper, all of Jefferson.
The groom is the son of John and
Janet Cornelson, Gainesville.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father. Her sister,
Amber Irizarry, Smyrna, served
as the matron of honor. The
bride’s friend, Beth Rylee, Lula,
was the bridal attendant. Holly
Cornelson, Manville, N.J., was
the flower girl.
The bride wore a gold brooch
bearing her great-grandmother’s
monogram. She also wore pearl
earrings given by the groom.
She carried a sixpence given by
her mother and a monogrammed
handkerchief given by her sister.
The bride carried a bouquet of
cream-colored roses, white spider
mums, fiddleheads and wild bird
feathers. She wore a candlelight
gown with beaded lace at the top
and an organza skirt, accented
by a champagne satin ribbon and
rhinestone brooch at the waist.
Her cathedral-length veil trailed
down the aisle.
The bridesmaids wore long,
chocolate tulle net gowns. They
carried fall-colored bouquets of
red and peach roses, peach spider
mums, red and orange chrysan
themums, rose hips, fiddleheads
and wild bird feathers.
Zach Landers, Conroe, Texas,
served as the best man. The
groom’s attendants were Thomas
Cornelson, Manville, N.J.; Matt
Thom, St. Louis, Mo.; and Joey
Kanclerz, Braselton. Matthew
Cornelson, Manville, N.J., was
the junior groomsman.
Hostesses jointly served
as bride’s book and program
attendants and as greeters.
They included: Kelli Wade,
Gainesville; Amanda Hooper
Evans; and Stephanie Cornelson,
Manville.
The outdoor ceremony took
place on a stone terrace overlook
ing Lake Sconti. The ceremony
was decorated with trees spar
kling with dangling glass beads
and mirrors. Fall-colored mums
decorated the white chairs.
Immediately following the cer
emony, guests proceeded to the
indoors of The Chimneys for a
reception hosted by the bride’s
parents. After dinner, cake was
served to the guests. The bride’s
cake, a four-tiered cake deco
rated with spider mums, sun
flowers and fiddleheads, graced
one table. The groom’s cake, a
bass fish-shaped cake, sat atop a
second table.
A rehearsal dinner was held on
October 5 in a private home at
Big Canoe and was hosted by the
groom’s parents.
Following a wedding trip to
Savannah, the couple resides in
North Georgia.
Braselton named drop-site for donated items for hospital
Toys to benefit patients at
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
are being collected at the Braselton
Town Hall.
Unwrapped toys may be dropped
off at town hall until Dec. 14.
The donated toys will be gath
ered in the community room of the
Braselton Police and Municipal
Court Building on Friday, Dec.
14, from 6-9 p.m. The toys will be
taken to the children’s hospital on
Saturday, Dec. 15.
The toys will be given to patients
and used in playrooms and prize
boxes at the children’s hospital.
Prize box toys should be from
a dollar store, and include items
such as plastic animals, sticker
books, airplanes, balls, make-up,
princess items and match-box
cars.

tal’s child life specialists and will
be used in playrooms:
