Stanley Bullock
Braselton
Stanley Griffin Bullock, 71, of
Braselton, died Sunday, December 23,
2007, following an extended illness.
A native of Clermont, he was the
son of the late Walter Griffin and
Lillie Head Bullock.
He attended War Hill
Christian Fellowship
in Dawsonville.
He served as a seaman in the
Merchant Marines. He retired from
Hall County Sheriff’s Department as a
sergeant with 34 1/2 years of service,
and was an active member of the
Peace Officer’s Association of Georgia
and the Grand Lodge Fraternal Order
of Police. His service to Hall County
and his community extended beyond
his duties as a Hall County Deputy.
His caring treatment of the people he
came in contact with will be remem
bered by many. He made new friends
at every comer and maintained those
relationships with new and old ones
alike. He was a devoted and loving
husband, father, and grandfather, and
enjoyed spending time with his family
and indulging his only grandson and
watching sunsets, loved ones stated.
Mr. Bullock was preceded in death by
a sister, Virginia Millwood; and niece,
Christina West.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce A.
Bullock, Braselton; daughters, Kelly
Parden, Braselton, Aledia Combs,
Anniston, Ala.; sister and broth-
er-in-law, Sandra and AG Baggett,
Jacksonville, Ala.; grandson, Dylan
Parden, Braselton; and several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday,
December 28, in the chapel of
Memorial Park Funeral Home with
the Revs. Don Allen and Rodney Allen
officiating. Burial was in Memorial
Park Cemetery.

Janice Doster
Hoschton
Janice Doster, 66, of Hoschton, died
Friday, December 28, 2007.
She was bom in Barrow County,
the daughter of the late Johnny and
Marzee Rockmore Brock. She was a
homemaker and a member of Women
of the Moose, Lady Aux, VFW and
American Legion. Mrs. Doster was
preceded in death by her husband,
Lewis J. Doster.
Survivors include sons, Wally
Doster, Winder, and Jerome Doster,
Hoschton; daughters, Donna Bauman,
Jacksonville, Rhonda Stemen,
Between, and Lynn Boutell, Alabaster,
Ala.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-
grandchildren; brothers, Tony Brock,
Winder, David Brock, Braselton; sis
ter, Brenda Wehunt, Winder; and sev
eral nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday,
December 31, at Smith Memory
Chapel. The body was cremated.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, was
in charge of arrangements.

Mike Jones
Statham
Mike Jones, 57, of Statham, died
Thursday, December 27, 2007.
Bom in Clarke County, he was the
son of Sue P. Jones of Statham and the
late Allen Jones. He was a graduate of
Winder Barrow High School in 1969
and was employed with Northeast
Sales Distributing. Mr. Jones was pre
ceded in death by a brother, Chris
Jones.
Survivors in addition to his moth
er, include a son, Christopher Jones,
Statham; daughter and son-in-law,
Kacey and Bronson Strickland,
Starksville, Miss.; grandchildren,
Sadie Strickland, Cia Strickland and
Grayson Jones; and a sister, Allyson
Summerour, Winder.
Graveside services were held
Sunday, December 30, at Barrow
Memorial Gardens with the Rev.
Bobby Anthony officiating.

Edna Tate
Gainesville
Edna Tate, 86, of Gainesville, died
Tuesday, December 25, 2007, at her
residence, following an extended ill
ness.
A native of Lumpkin County, she
had lived in Hall County for over 51
years, and was the daughter of the late
Cicero and Madge Mincey Lingerfelt.
She was a homemaker and a mem
ber of Bethlehem Baptist Church
in Lumpkin County. Mrs. Tate was
preceded in death by a sister, Doris
Dillon; brothers, Ben, Hubert, Ronald,
Gene, and MC Lingerfelt.
Survivors include her husband of
54 years, Clinton Tate, Gainesville;
son and daughter-in-law, David and
Shirley Tate, Gainesville; brothers,
Ralph Lingerfelt and J.B. Lingerfelt,
both of Dahlonega; sisters, Joyce Mize,
Dacula, Bonnie Gardner, Homer, and
Lois Arthur, Dahlonega; grandsons.
Clay Tate and Blake Tate; and a large
number of other relatives.
Funeral services were held Saturday,
December 29, at the Bethlehem
Baptist Church in Lumpkin County
with the Rev. Michael Rodgers offi
ciating. Burial was in the Bethlehem/
Jones Chapel Cemetery in Lumpkin
County.

was in charge of arrangements.

Mike Everett
Statham
Mike Everett, 48, of Statham, died
Wednesday, December 26, 2007.
He was bom in Muskogee County,
the son of the late John J. and Hattie
M. Baughcum Everett. He was a car
penter in home construction.
Survivors include a son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Michael and Melissa
Everett, Statham; daughters and sons-
in-law, Shana and John Streetman,
Green County, and April and Bob
Francis, Lawrenceville; six grandchil
dren; brothers, A. John Everett and
Chris Everett, both of Statham, and
Chad Everett, Winder; sisters, Bertha
Lee, Braselton, and Rose McGaha,
Statham; and 11 nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will
be held at a later date. The body was
cremated.

Ga. 30606, or the American Cancer
Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Rd.,
Athens, Ga. 30605.

William Wood
Jefferson
William Allen Wood, 69, of
Jefferson, died Saturday, December
29, 2007.
Bom in Jackson County, he was the
son of the late Lester Otis and Fannie
Lou Watkins Wood Maddox. He was a
retired switchman and conductor with
the CSX Railroad,
and a veteran of the
United States Army.
He was a member of
the Bethany United
Methodist Church,
Woodman of the
World, and the Emily
Potts Sunday School
Class. Mr. Wood was
preceded in death by a
brother, Lyndal Wood.
Survivors include his wife, Joy
Dowdy Wood, Jefferson; daughter
and son-in-law, Lisa Wood and Mark
Hardigree, Jefferson; son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Wayne and Connie Wood,
Bethlehem; sisters, Betty Crumley,
Shirley Satterfield, Ronda Carrath,
and Gail Richardson, all of Jefferson;
grandchildren and spouse, Keith and
Robin Wood, Ellie Hardigree, and
Cason Hardigree.
Funeral services were held Monday,
December 31, at the Bethany United
Methodist Church with the Rev.
Johnny Ray officiating. Burial was in
the church cemetery. Pallbearers were
Larry McCain, Kenny Crumley, John
Kesler, Rudy Jones, Neal Watkins,
Tom Venable, Frankie Bray and Lynn
Wood. Honorary pallbearers were
Clyde Martin, Jerry Dowdy, Mike
Ingram, Brannon Gooch and CSX
Railroad workers.

Jefferson
Misty A. Brock, 26, of Jefferson,
died Thursday, December 27, 2007.
She was the daughter of Herman
Brock and the late Brenda Carter
Brock.
Survivors in addition to her father,
include a sister, Rhonda Lee Brock;
grandmothers and
spouses, Sadie and
Charles Hayes,
Hoschton, Ethlene
and Jack Brock,
Braselton, Ardell
King, Statham; a host
of uncles, aunts and
cousins; and many
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday,
December 30, at Walnut Fork Baptist
Church with the Rev. Clinton Gooch
and Pastor Jeff Graham officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.

Eula Reidling
Commerce
Eula Curtis Reidling, 86, of
Commerce, formerly of Gainesville,
died Monday, December 24, 2007,
following an extended illness.
She was bom in Murrayville, the
daughter of the late Floyd and Flossie
Curtis, and was a lifetime mem
ber of Murrayville Congregational
Holiness Church. She was retired
from Chicopee Manufacturing. Mrs.
Reidling was preceded in death by her
husband, W.D. Reidling; and a son,
Danny Reidling.
Survivors include daughters,
Annette Emmett, Commerce, and
Jennifer Huffman, Athens; brother and
sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. John Curtis,
Gainesville; seven grandchildren; and
five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday,
December 28, at Memorial Park
Funeral Home and Crematory with
the Revs. Michael Emmett, Jeff Gailey
and Bob Garrett officiating.

Monteen Wilson
Lula
Monteen Skelton Wilson, 91, of
Lula, died Thursday, December 27,
2007, at Habersham County Medical
Center, following an extended illness.
Bom in White County on January 6,
1916, she was the daughter of the late
Loy and Eva Carpenter Skelton. She
was a homemaker who enjoyed mak
ing handmade pottery, was a member
of Enon Baptist Church, and attended
Shiloh Baptist Church of Gainesville.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death
by her husband, H.A. Wilson; daugh
ter, Jane Stewart; son, Jackie Wilson;
and brothers, Ronald, Ray, and L.A.
Skelton.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris
Hill, Cornelia; sons and daughter-in-
law, Wayne Wilson, Ricky Wilson,
Jimmy and Martha Ann Wilson, all of
Lula; daughter-in-law, Elaine Wilson,
Lula; brother, Crawford Skelton,
Cleveland; sisters, Willie Mae
Humphries, Ruth Lancaster and Jean
Pardue, all of Cleveland, and Janet
Green, Gainesville; 12 grandchildren;
11 great-grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday,
December 29, in the chapel of
MaGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral
Home with Pastor David Ash officiat
ing. Burial was at the Mossy Creek
United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Sarah Stephenson
Commerce
Sarah Nelda Stephenson, 88, of
Commerce, died Tuesday, December
25, 2007, at BJC Nursing Home.
Bom in Banks County, she was the
daughter of the late John and Lyde
Rylee Chasteen. She was a member of
the First United Methodist Church of
Commerce and was retired from Blue
Bell. Mrs. Stephenson was preceded
in death by her first husband, Ralph
Langford; and her second husband,
James Y. Stephenson.
Survivors include a step-daughter,
Elaine Blalock, Nicholson; step-sons,
Myron Stephenson, Hull, and Terry
Stephenson, Commerce; and neph
ews, Johnny Standridge, Texas, and
Mark Scott, Gainesville.
Funeral services were held Saturday,
December 29, in the chapel of Little-
Ward Funeral Home with the Rev.
Henry Webb officiating.

Ada Val Bagwell
Gainesville
Ada Val Smith Bagwell, 101, died
Monday, December 31, 2007, at the
home of her granddaughter, Sheila
Williams.
She was bom on October 15, 1906,
in Jackson County, the daughter of
the late Billy and Ida Smith. She and
her husband lived in the Chestatee
Community for 54 years, until his
death in 1979. Before her declin
ing health, she enjoyed working in
her vegetable and flower gardens and
attending her church. Pleasant Grove
Baptist Church, where she was the
oldest living member. She was known
by all as being a wonderful cook, and
enjoyed preparing meals for her fam
ily, loved ones stated.
She celebrated her 100th birthday
surrounded by family and friends on
October 15, 2006, at Pleasant Grove
Baptist Church fellowship hall. She
has left many memories and funny
stories for generations of family mem
bers. She will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Bagwell was preceded in death
by her husband, Clarence Bagwell;
a son, Arthur J. Bagwell; daughter,
Clara Nell Bagwell; sisters, Mutell
Smith, Ola Mae Ivey and Josie Ivey;
and brother, Arnold Smith.
Survivors include a son and daugh-
ter-in-law. Bill and Marie Bagwell,
Gainesville; granddaughters and
spouses, Debbie and Mike Fowler,
Gwen and Ron Stover, Sheila and
A1 Williams, all of Gainesville;
grandsons and spouses, Wendell and
Deloris Bagwell, Gainesville, Darryl
and Laura Bagwell, Cumming; 11
great-grandchildren; eight great-
great-grandchildren; a sister, Audrey
Norrell, Dahlonega; and a number of
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church,
Forsyth County, with the Revs. Vemie
Worley, John Lummus and Scott
Sorrells officiating. Burial was in the
church cemetery.
