MR. AND MRS. WINDMILLER
Garrard, Windmiller marry Oct. 20
Elise Garrard and Daniel Windmiller, Black Mountain, N.C., were unit
ed in marriage October 20, 2007, at Hidden River Events, Swannanoa,
N.C., with the groom’s father, the Rev. Don Windmiller, officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dwight and Susan Garrard, Hoschton,
and the groom is the son of the Rev. Windmiller and Peggy Windmiller,
Huntley, Ill.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents. Lauren Waldorf was
the matron of honor and Hannah Garrard was the maid of honor. Bridal
attendants were Ashley Belew, Jennifer Miller, Kao-Ihi Ly, Keri Trahan
and Melissa Wilson.
Kris Windmiller served as the best man. Groom’s attendants were
Travis Hartenstein, Wes Waldorf, Jeff Walker, Seth White and Charlie
Wilson.
The bride is a graduate of Jackson County Comprehensive High
School and Montreat College in North Carolina. She is employed by
Visio Photography. The groom is also a Montreat College graduate. He
is the recreation coordinator at The Presbyterian Home for Children.
The couple resides in Black Mountain, N.C.

Pigtails & Crewcuts — a hair
salon designed for children — has
opened its newest location in
Buford, across from the Mall of
Georgia.
“Pigtails & Crewcuts doesn’t fit
any of the stereotypes common
ly associated with the children’s
services industry,” said John and
Amy Heskett, franchise owner of
the Buford Pigtails & Crewcuts.
“We accommodate children of all
ages in a one-of-a-kind environ
ment that is appealing to kids and
parents alike — it’s as fun as a
playroom but as stylish and com
fortable as a living room.”
The Buford Pigtails & Crewcuts
features a fully-stocked playroom
with toys, including a wooden train,
blocks, balls and a PlayStation 2
for older children. Situated above
every haircutting station is a TV
that plays family-friendly mov
ies. The salons’ custom-made pint-
sized barber chairs are shaped like
airplanes, cars and fire engines that
come complete with a bell. The
location also offers two full-sized
barber chairs for more grown-up
patrons.

ed in 2002 by a stay-at-home mom
seeking a child-friendly place for
her two young children to get a
haircut. Shortly after opening the
first Pigtails & Crewcuts loca
tion in Atlanta, Wade Brannon,
former executive with Atlanta-
based Heavenly Ham, took his
three young children to the salon.
Brannon later bought the rights to
franchise the concept nationwide.
Pigtails & Crewcuts plans to open
150 locations by 2009 and more
than 400 locations over the next
decade.
The salon in Buford is open
Mondays through Friday, from
9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays,

MR. AND MRS. BRYANT
Evans, Bryant wed on Dec. 22
Nancy L. Evans and Ricky W. Bryant, both of Commerce, were united
in marriage on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at the Commerce Church of
God. The Rev. John Webber officiated.
The bride is the daughter of the late Dallis M. and Winfred Turner
Evans, Commerce. She is employed by the Jackson County Department
of Family and Children Services.
The groom is the son of the late C.H. and Annie Phillips Bryant,
Hoschton. He is employed at Jefferson Blanking, Pendergrass.
The bride was given in marriage by her maternal uncle, John W.
Turner, Commerce. Ashley Diggs and Julianna Watson were maid of
honor and bridesmaid. Jack Diggs served as best man.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church’s fellow
ship hall.
Following a honeymoon in Helen, the couple resides in Commerce.
UGA alumni to meet Jan. 15

New commander named for
Jackson Co. Civil Air Patrol
The Georgia Wing of the
Civil Air Patrol has announced
a change of command at the
Jackson County Composite
Squadron.
Taking position as squadron
commander is Lt. Col. Richard
Smith.
Col. Smith comes to the squad
ron with 17 years of experience
with the Civil Air Patrol (CAP).
He has completed ah five levels
of training in the senior pro
gram and has been awarded the
Meritorius Service Award.
“In ah my 17 years of work
ing in CAP, I have never been
in command of a finer squadron
than Jackson Thunderbirds,” Col.
Smith said. “They are a good
group of cadets with an excellent
senior staff.”
Col. Smith replaces the squad
ron’s long-time commander, Maj.
Michael Howington.
Col. Smith served with the 82 1,d
Airborne Division for two years,
and 18 years with Special Forces,
better known as the “Green
Berets.” He is a master parachut
ist, a U.S. Army Pathfinder and a
Desert Storm veteran.

Abigail Elizabeth, 2.
