Town manager
contract renewed
Braselton town manager/clerk Jennifer Scott’s con
tract has been renewed. Scott and mayor Bill Orr
signed the contract at the Braselton Town Council’s
July meeting.
The council previously voted to authorize the mayor
to pursue the renewal. Council member Becky Richard
son was the lone “no” vote.
Scott’s salary was approved at $140,000 with a $600
monthly vehicle allowance. That allowance does not
include liability, property damage and insurance; or the
purchase, operation, maintenance, repair and replace
ment of the vehicle.
Patel joins Heart Center,
welcomes new patients
Ankit A. Patel, MD. FACC, FSCAI, has joined The
Heart Center of Northeast Georgia Medical Center
(NGMC) and is accepting new patients at the practice’s
Braselton and Commerce locations.
“I am pleased to be part of this team of physicians
and medical staff who have clearly earned the respect
and trust of both patients and peers in the healthcare
community,” said Dr. Patel. “As a cardiologist with The
Heart Center of NGMC, I look forward to continuing to
provide patients in Northeast Georgia the award-win
ning heart health services my colleagues at NGMC
have been providing for years.”
Dr. Patel received his medical degree from Govern
ment Medical College in Surat, India. He completed
his residency in Internal Medicine at Memorial Health
University Medical Center in Savannah. Ga., and a
series of fellowships in Cardiac Imaging. Cardiovascu
lar Disease and Interventional Cardiology at Methodist
Hospital in Houston. Texas, and the University of North
Carolina in Chapel Hill.
Dr. Patel is board-certified in Interventional Cardi
ology, Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine.
He holds a variety of other medical certifications and
licenses and also served as co-investigator and coor
dinating fellow for clinical trials studying several new
medications.
He started the Pacemaker Program at Cartersville
Medical Center in Cartersville, Ga., and has served
on a myriad of committees at medical centers in both
leadership and membership positions. Dr. Patel speaks
three languages and enjoys playing cards, tennis, crick
et, soccer and other sports.

was recently named the
Club of the Year for mid
dle-sized clubs in District
6910. The award was
announced during the dis
trict assembly hosted on
the Lanier Tech campus in
Forsyth County.

of the Year honors a club
goal. That work and com
mitment paid off as Dis
trict Governor Kim Waters
and her leadership team
announced the recognition,
leaders state.

Rotarians also attended the
District Assembly to see
the awards presentation.

traditions of Rotary during
the previous year. The Club
of the Year recognition
demonstrates high achieve
ment as an effective Rota
ry Club by attaining the
highest number of points
possible related to: The
Rotary Foundation, which
culminated the celebration
of its centennial during
the 2017 Rotary Interna
tional Convention hosted
in Atlanta; club adminis
tration; leadership; mem
bership; public image; ser
vice; the Georgia Rotary
Student Program (GRSP);
international service; new
generations/youth service;
and vocational service.
The Braselton Rotary

student annually in part
nership with two other
clubs. The club’s member
