religious education
classes offered
St. Catherine Laboure' Catholic Church will be holding
registration for its 2017-2018 religious education classes
through August 27.
Religious education is open to registered parishioners of
St. Catherine Laboure’.
The cost is $40 per child with a $100 maximum per
family.
First through fifth grade classes will be held on Wednes
day evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sixth through
eighth grade classes will be held on Sunday Mornings from
9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Confirmation preparation classes will be held once a
month on Sunday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Masses are scheduled Thursday at 12:10 p.m., Friday at 9
a.m., Saturday Vigil at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. Con
fession is available on Saturdays from 3 to 3:45 or by
appointment.
St. Catherine Laboure’ Catholic Church is located at 180

Walnut Fork
sets homecoming
Walnut Fork Baptist Church homecoming will be Sunday,
Aug. 13.
Worship Service will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon, with
special guest Randy Farmer and family.
Lunch in the fellowship hall will follow. C.H. Campbell
will make his homemade lemonade. Church members are
asked to bring side dishes.
Walnut Fork is at 557 Highway 60, Hoschton. Dr. Rusty
Newman is pastor.
Stepping Stones
planned in August
A weekly community event. Stepping Stones, will be held
at Mocha Moe’s Coffee House in Flowery Branch during
the month of August.
The program will be held on Fridays, Aug. 4, 11, 18 and
25, from 2-3 p.m. The Aug. 25 event will feature a movie
and will be at a different location.
Attendees will discuss the topic: Is Heaven Real.
Stepping Stones is an outreach program of New Liberty
United Methodist Church. Services are held at New Liberty
UMC at 11 a.m.
Mocha Moe’s is located at 7380 Spout Springs Road,
Flowery Branch.
New Liberty
plans homecoming
New Liberty United Methodist Church will host its home
coming celebration on Sunday, Aug. 6 at 11 a.m.
The Rev. Gary Greenwald, who was pastor at New Liber
ty from 2010-11, will deliver the message.
There will be a potluck feast following worship.
Highway 211 will entertain with music.
The Rev. Joshua D. McDaniel is the pastor.
The church is located at 26 Charlie Smith Road, Bra
selton.

classes start Sept. 13
Free citizenship classes

Local Alzheimer’s
benefit walk planned
The Alzheimer’s Asso
ciation Walk to End Alz
heimer’s will take place
on Saturday, Oct. 21,
at Clark Central High
School in Athens. Near
ly 800 people from the
Athens area including
Clarke, Oconee, Ogletho
rpe and Jackson counties
are expected at this year’s
event to raise awareness
and funds to fight Alzhei
mer’s disease.
Walk participants will
complete a three-mile
walk and will learn about
Alzheimer’s disease,
advocacy opportunities,
clinical studies enroll
ment and support pro
grams and services from
the Alzheimer’s Associ
ation.
Participants will also
join in a meaningful trib
ute ceremony to honor
those affected by Alzhei
mer’s disease.

people living with the
disease and 519,000
caregivers. In the Unit
ed States, more than five
million Americans are
living with Alzheimer’s
disease, the sixth-leading
cause of death in and the
only disease among the
top 10 causes that can

Arbor Pointe
announces schedule
Arbor Pointe Church plans several events. They include:
•a Wednesday night ACTS dinner is set for Aug. 2 at 6:30
p.m. The theme is breakfast for dinner.
•WOW on Wednesdays begins on Aug. 9 from 6-7- p.m.
It’s for all age groups. There will be fellowship, acoustic
worship, a brief message and a study. The first study is
SHAPE: Finding and Fulfilling Your Unique Purpose in
Life.
•the church is also currently taking applications for the
“Grow to be You” preschool. Information is available on the
church website and Facebook page. Twelve spots are open
for the preschool, which begins Aug. 7.

Church at Hoschton
hosts roundtable
The Church At Hoschton will have a round table dis
cussion led by Pastor Cory Sexton and other local pastors.
This will be on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:30
a.m.
A Bible study is held on the third Tuesday of each month
at 6:30 p.m. for ladies in the community.
Classes are held in the classroom at the rear of the build
ing.
The church is located at 99 East Jefferson Street in
Hoschton.
Sanctuary of Pentecost
announces services
The Sanctuary of Pentecost is located at 89 West Jackson
Road in Braselton.
•Sunday morning worship service is at 11 a.m. with
pre-service prayer at 10:30 a.m.
•Tuesday Bible study is at 7:30 p.m. with pre-service
prayer at 7 p.m.
•Thursday is Prayer and Youth Bible Study at 7:30 p.m.
and choir practice at 8 p.m.
