Lily is a fifth grade student at GSES and Jase is in kindergarten. Peach State Federal Credit Union offering scholarships to area students Peach State Federal Credit Union is accept ing applications for its 2020 scholarship pro gram. The credit union will award $154,700 in scholarships and educa tional grants to seniors in high school and pro fessionals seeking ca reer advancement. The program was established to honor Peach State’s founders, past and pres ent board members and employees, as well as the lifetime achievements of several notable school system and community leaders. Scholarship winners will be announced in the spring of 2020 and will be invited to attend a re ception in their honor. The following is a list of all available scholar ships: •Ten $2,000 Legacy Student Scholarships. •Sixteen $2,000 school system and com munity honoree student scholarships. •Twenty-six $2,000 Career Advancement Scholarships. Peach State also sup ports a number of educa tional organizations with a combined total of more than $50,700 in schol arships and educational grants. “We are committed to supporting educa tors and school systems throughout our service area, so scholarship time is an important time at Peach State,” remarked Marshall Boutwell, Peach State’s President/ CEO. “We were founded by Gwinnett County ed ucators in 1961 and we honor that foundation by providing opportunities for the educators and leaders of the future.” Applications and eli gibility criteria are avail able on the credit union’s website at www.peach- statefcu.org. Church News Hoschton Baptist cancels Jan. 1 night service, plans men’s breakfast Hoschton Baptist Church will not hold a Wednes day night service on January 1. In other church news, Hoschton Baptist will host a men’s prayer breakfast on Saturday, Jan. 4, at 8 a.m. Men are encouraged to wear work clothes. After breakfast, the men will build a bridge across the creek. The church will also host the Masters Club for children on Wednesday nights in January.
