Affectionately known as “Nanny” to many, she was a daughter of the late Leland Boss Haley and Katherine Brown Ha ley. Mrs. Allen was em ployed for years at Bill’s BBQ and was a long time member of Mace donia Holiness Church. She enjoyed crosswords, reading, cooking and most importantly, she flourished on time spent with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Allen Sr.; daughter, Kelley Cassandra Allen; and two sisters, Cathy Lou- dale Stanfield and Lucy Belle Anglin. Survivors include two children, Mike Allen (Me linda) and Jasmine Elrod; three siblings, Donna West (George), Ronnie Haley (Linda), and Randy Haley (Bobbie); one brother-in-law, Willie Anglin; six grandchildren, Melanie Allen, Josh Allen, Dan iel Allen, Breanna Elrod, Blake Elrod and Dakota Allen; five great-grandchildren, Zach Allen, Drew Allen, Aiden Allen, Sawyer Allen and Jace Cordell; and a host of other beloved family and friends. Week of December 29-January 4 Timothy “Tim" Roy Childs ASHEBORO, N.C. — Timothy “Tim” Roy Childs, 76, of Asheboro, N.C., passed away on Monday, De cember 23, 2019 at his home. Mr. Childs was born in Commerce on November 22, 1943 to Roy and An nas Wofford Childs. Tim was a graduate of Com merce High School and the University of Georgia. He retired as an executive after many years in the textile industry. Tim was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Paulette Childs Carson. Tim loved to gar den, grow flowers and build model ships. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Wilson Childs; son, Timothy Roy Childs Jr. (Jennifer), Sanford, N.C.; daughter, Wendi Childs Wellington (Brad), Asheboro, N.C.; and grandchildren, Savannah and Wyatt Welling ton, and Madison and Wilson Childs. Mr. Dean was also a United States Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam War and was the recipient of two Purple Heart medals. Born in Cornelia on March 31, 1932, he was a son of the late Byri Law- son and the late Clara Tur- pen Lawson. In addition to his parents. Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jo Beth Graham Lawson; and brothers, Bob Lawson and Gene Lawson. Mr. Lawson graduat ed from Cornelia High School and attended Clemson University. He was a member of Cornelia United Methodist Church, 60 year member of the Cornelia Masonic Lodge #92 F.&A.M., and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was employed by Habersham Hardware and retired from the United States Post Office. Wade was a loving and devoted husband, a wonderful father, father-in-law and friend to all he met. He genu inely loved being with people of all ages. He felt there was no better place to live than Cornelia, and no better team than the Clemson Tigers.
