The Braselton News Page 2A Wednesday, January 8, 2020 HCSO investigating deaths of man, woman in South Hall The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the deaths of a man and woman after their bodies were discovered in their South Hall County home early morning on Saturday. Jan. 4. Ty Iang. 55, and Meakna Iang, 47, both suffered what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The two were married. At approximately 2:30 a.m., HCSO deputies responded to a call in reference to a shooting at the residence in the 5000 block of Little Doe Walk in the vicinity of Spout Springs Rd. During the initial investigation, deputies determined that a family member who also lives in the home discovered the bodies in a bedroom. Two of the couple’s sons. 16 and 20. and the sons’ grandmother were in the home at the time of the incident. Hall County has been selected as one of 18 communities nationwide to submit a final application for the Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership (ORLP) Program Grant from the National Park Service for Butler Park. If awarded, Hall County would receive up to $633,231 in grant funding to construct the new 13-acre park, located on Athens Street in Gainesville. The proposed amenities could include a new playground, pavilion, restrooms, bas ketball court, splash pad, parking, exercise/nature trails, signage, landscaping, utilities and lighting. “We are excited to continue moving forward with this project, which will provide a much needed place for Hall County residents to exercise, play and relax. County staff will continue to work closely with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to complete the next steps of the pro cess to secure this valuable grant funding,” said Jeff Stowe, Hall County Commissioner, District 4. Hall County staff will now work with the Georgia De partment of Natural Resources to submit the final applica tion to the National Park Service for consideration. The funding is part of $11.7 million in federal dollars allocated to benefit communities underserved by parks and other outdoor recreation opportunities. The ORLP program grew out of a 2014 Congressional directive to create a nationally competitive grant program to complement the 54-year old Land and Water Conser vation Fund (LWCF) State Assistance Program. Both pro grams are administered by the National Park Service. Red Cross Northeast Georgia Medical Center is first in state to provide new heart test Northeast Georgia Med ical Center (NGMC) is the first hospital in Georgia to provide a new test that can better predict if you have coronary artery disease and need a cardiac cathe terization to restore blood flow to your heart. The new test - called HeartFlow Analysis takes data from a CT scan of a patient’s heart and uses it to create a 3D model of the coronary ar teries. It then uses power ful computer algorithms to simulate blood flow and assess the impact of blockages on blood flow to the heart. NGMC’s car diac imaging team began performing the HeartFlow Analysis in April and has performed more than 60 tests to date—the most of any healthcare provider in the state. With Georgia’s largest cardiac imaging team specially trained to utilize HeartFlow Analy sis, NGMC performs the highest number of Heart- Flow Analyses per month. “Historically. most non-invasive tests are not very precise to assess for blockages and blood flow in the heart arteries- so patients often ended up having invasive cardiac catheterization just to de termine if they needed a second procedure to put in a stent or perform angio plasty,” said Ioannis Para- statidis, MD, PhD, nonin- vasive cardiologist at The Heart Center of NGMC. “This new analysis is a game-changer that helps us determine the right approach for each patient and avoid the physical and monetary cost of unneces sary procedures.” Nationally, HeartFlow Analysis has already been used for more than 30,000 patients with suspected heart disease. You need a physician’s referral for HeartFlow Analysis.
