Page 6A The Braselton News Wednesday, December 30, 2020 Public Safety Braselton PD Man chokes woman during dispute A man allegedly choked a woman during a recent dispute in Braselton. Officers with the Braselton Police Depart ment were called to Pied mont Ave. for a report of aggravated assault. A woman said she con fronted a man about going to work and the man be came irate, lunged forward and grabbed her by the throat while she had a child in her arms. She couldn't remember if she lost con sciousness during the inci dent, but said she feared for her life and the child’s life. The woman’s husband grabbed a metal rod and struck the suspect in the head, resulting in lacer ations. The suspect was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton. Warrants were taken out. OTHER INCIDENTS Other recent incidents reported to the BPD were: •damage to property on Braselton Pkwy. where someone reported a dam aged trailer. •miscellaneous report on Franklin St. where a man reported his son left a resi dence and hadn't returned. •speeding; failure to maintain lane; fleeing or at tempting to elude; and theft by receiving a motor vehi cle on 1-85. Officers with multiple agencies were in volved in a vehicle pursuit with a 16-year-old driver. The chase ultimately ended with a PIT maneuver in the Commerce area. The sus pect was taken into custo dy by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. •speeding; fleeing or at tempting to elude; follow ing too closely; reckless driving; turning move ments and required signal violation; and limitations on passing on the left on 1-85. A lookout was issued for four racing vehicles that were driving recklessly and cutting off other vehi cles. Three of the vehicles stopped for authorities, but one continued to flee. Offi cers said at one point, the driver reached speeds of 130-miles-per-hour. Offi cers terminated the pursuit. ARREST The BPD recently made on arrest, including: •Robert Kenneth Brewer, 60. 5834 Markwell Ridge, Braselton — indecent ex posure; public intoxica tion; and open container. Someone followed Brew er after seeing him drive recklessly. When officers made contact with him, he was urinating in a su permarket parking lot. He got back inside his vehicle and started it. Brewer told officers he’d consumed al cohol and officers saw an open bottle of vodka in the vehicle. JCSO - West Jackson Incidents reported in West Jackson Gwinnett County Christmas came early for Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services thanks to the efforts of 11-year-old Ju nior Girl Scout Sophia Tiborczszeghi, who donated pet oxygen mask kits to five fire stations. Junior Girl Scout donates pet oxygen masks in Gwinnett The following incidents were recently reported to the Jackson County Sher iff’s Office in Braselton and Hoschton: •agency assist on 1-85 where deputies assisted the Georgia State Patrol with a wreck involving two trac tor-trailers. •dispute on Hwy. 53 where a store employee confronted a man about shoplifting. •custody dispute on Skelton Rd. where a wom an reported her ex-husband yelled at their daughter. •custody dispute on Hickory Walk where a man reported his ex-wife told him she wasn’t going to let him pick up their children. •agency assist on Hud son Dr. where officers as sisted with a residential fire. •civil matter on Arbor Trace where a woman wanted officers on the scene while her estranged husband retrieved his be longings. •dispute on Davenport Rd. where a woman said her roommate put all of her belongings outside. The woman agreed to leave the residence. •information on Daven port Rd. where a woman who suffers from mental illness said she felt threat ened by her husband. Of ficers said the woman re fused medical treatment. •suspicious activity on Jackson Trail Rd. where a man found litter on the side of the road. •agency assist on Pendergrass Rd. where officers assisted the GSP with a wreck. •suicide threats on Ea gles Bluff Way where a woman left a suicide note on her phone, but was later found safe. •welfare check on Pen ny Ln. where officers tried to check on a woman, but were unsuccessful. •dispute on Skelton Rd. where someone reported their neighbors were fight ing. The couple said the argument was verbal only. •hit and run; reckless driving; fleeing or attempt ing to elude a police offi cer; aggressive driving; driving on the wrong side of the roadway; failure to maintain lane; failure to stop at a stop sign; and tail light violation on Jackson Trail Rd. Officers attempt ed to stop a vehicle, which fled and hit a mailbox and a vehicle in the process. •suspicious activity on Moons Bridge Rd. where a woman fell asleep outside a gate while waiting on someone. •welfare check on Gum Springs Church Rd. where officers did a welfare check for West Jackson Middle School. •dispute on J. D. Brooks Rd. where a man reported a company was installing a fiber optic line on his prop erty. but that they didn’t have permission to dig there. •recovered stolen prop erty on Shafer Way where a stolen truck was aban doned. •criminal trespass on Manor Lake Cir. where someone entered a trailer and took tools. •information on Moons Bridge Rd. where someone reported a neighbor was shooting. Officers con firmed the neighbor was shooting safely. Junior Girl Scout Sophia Tiborczszeghi recently do nated pet oxygen mask kits to five Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services fire stations. Tiborczszeghi, a fifth grade-student at Sugar Hill Elementary, raised $425 to purchase and donate pet oxygen mask kits to fire stations in the Sugar Hill, Buford and Suwanee areas. “I hope my efforts will highlight the importance of having the appropriate equipment to save our be loved pets in case of a fire,” she said. Tiborczszeghi, along with her family, visited Fire Station 24 across from the Mall of Georgia to present the mask kits to firefight ers earlier this month. The kits were purchased from Wag'N 02 Fur Life, an or ganization which aims to place kits in every fire and emergency services depart ment in the United States. Each kit features three mask sizes with tubing to provide supplemental ox ygen during respiratory compromise. In order to raise enough money to purchase the kits, Tiborczszeghi sold home made “Get Well” cards for people and pets, provid ed babysitting service and sold toys. In addition to raising money for the mask kits, Tiborczszeghi volunteered at the Suwanee Animal Hospital, where she com pleted 32-hours of commu nity service under the guid ance of Dr. Joe Fitzgerald. Sophia's mom. AnaMaria Tiborczszeghi, worked in the background to coor dinate with Suwanee Ani mal Hospital and Gwinnett County Fire and Emer gency Services to see her daughter's community ser vice project to completion.
