Hall County schools seek applications for
Da Vinci Academy, exploration academy
Da Vinci Academy (DVA) at the Academies of Discovery at
South Hall and the Earhart-Edison Exploration Academy (E2) at
North Hall Middle School have announced separate timelines for
rising sixth graders who wish to apply to attend either program
for faU of 2021.
DA VINCI ACADEMY
Da Vinci Academy is located at the Academies of Discovery
at South Hall Middle School, and is a program designed for stu
dents who “have a passion for learning, primarily focused in the
arts, sciences and technology.”
“Students who are curious, who are original thinkers and who
are open to discovering their gifts in a creative educational setting
are prime candidates for this program,” school leaders said. “In
trinsic motivation, creativity and self-discipline are characteristics
that DVA students should possess.”

E2 EXPLORATION
The Earhart-Edison Exploration Academy at North Hall Mid
dle School is open to all Hall County students and will accept
high-achieving sixth graders who are “enthusiastic about learn
ing.” Students who want to explore how the STEM areas (Sci
ence, Technology, Engineering and Math) connect to teamwork,
communication and problem-solving will thrive in the collabora
tive and creative learning environment of E2, school leaders said.

The Earhart-Edison Exploration Academy will have a separate
application timeline and process. The E2 application will be post
ed on January 4. The E2 application deadline is Friday, Feb. 19.

Gwinnett schools fill vacancy
for assistant superintendent

ing.
McCain fills the vacan
cy created when Pam Wil
liams was named the dis
trict’s chief of staff.
McCain is currently
principal of Partee Ele
mentary School. She be
gan her career in Gwinnett
County Public Schools in
1996, teaching at Nesbitt
Elementary School and
later at Stripling Elemen
tary School.
She served as assis
tant principal at Magill
and Grayson elementa
ry schools, before be
ing named principal of
Meadowcreek Elementary
School.

Cain held an assistant su
perintendent position and
took on the role of princi
pal at Partee Elementary
School in 2017.
She holds a bachelor’s
degree in health services
administration from Ohio
University; a teacher cer
tificate in elementary edu

and supervision from Lin

ty; and a doctoral degree
in educational leadership

Grerinan makes honor roll
Kathleen Marie Grennan, of Hoschton, was recently
named to the University of Mississippi’s fall 2020 hon
or roll lists.
Grennan was named to the chancellor’s honor roll,
which is reserved for students who earn a semester GPA
of 3.75-4.00.
Locals earn 4.0 GPA
at Piedmont College
Piedmont College recently announced that nearly 250
students who were named dean’s scholars for the fall
2020 semester. Students named as a dean’s scholar fin
ished the semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
