HALL CO. SROs TEAM UP WITH ‘JOSHUA’S VOICE’
Hall County SROs recently teamed up with the district and non-profit orga
nization Joshua’s Voice to learn more about autism spectrum disorders and
sensory processing disorders. Additionally, SROs received sensory kits from
Joshua’s Voice to assist them as they interact with students with sensory sen
sitivities. The items in the backpacks can help to calm these students and en
courage communication between them and SROs. The items will also assist
in bringing a sense of calm in times of crisis. Each sensory kit contains an
EMS communication board, a general communication board, a drawing board,
noise-reduction headphones, sunglasses for light sensitivities and various
other manipulatives for calming purposes. Joshua’s Voice is an organization
whose mission is to help spread a awareness about individuals with invisible
disabilities by providing education and tools to first responders and others
who encounter children or adults with sensory processing disorders, partic
ularly in times of crisis. Pictured are (L to R) SRO Jack Brown; SRO Delfino
