A special election will be held in November to fill O’Leary’s unexpired term, which runs through 2026. The council will also se lect a mayor pro-tem during the meeting. Braselton Braselton town council OK’s FY2024 budget Braselton leaders approved the town’s Fiscal Year 2024 budget with a unanimous vote in a brief called meeting on June 28. The plan calls for $7.1 mil lion in general fund spending, up 15% from last year, but projects 20% more in revenue at $10.55 million. In addition to the general fund budget, the council ap proved the town’s water and sewer budget ($10.94 million in expenses and debt pay ments), as well as budgets for the town’s stormwater fund ($477,950) and civic center fund ($490,851). WORK SESSIONS TO BE RESCHEDULED A pair of work sessions last week to discuss proposed development code changes were canceled. According to the town, the meetings will be rescheduled. The new dates have not been announced. The Braselton Town Council could potentially vote on the expansion proposal on Monday (July 10). By Ben Munro ben@mainstreetnews. com The future of a much-dis cussed proposal to expand the Del Webb at Chateau Elan development could be decided early next week. The item will appear on the Braselton Town Coun cil's July 10 7 p.m. meet ing agenda for a potential vote. The proposal initially appeared on the council's June 12 agenda before the applicant, PulteGroup, asked to defer the item to the July meeting. The council heard argu ments both for and against the project during a lengthy June 8 public hearing. Pulte’s expansion plans would add 345 homes. But to proceed with those plans, the developer asks for adjustments to the orig inal master plan approved in 1999 and an annexation and a planned unit devel opment (PUD) zoning See Expansion, page 12A Legacy Knoll ribbon cutting set for July 29 Jackson County school leaders will host a ribbon cutting for Legacy Knoll Middle School, a new middle school on the county’s west side, on Saturday, July 29, at 10 a.m. A tour is available after the ceremony to those attending.
