Braselton leaders are

The town’s visitors’ bu

The town recently in
stalled gateway signs along
its interstate exit ramps in
Barrow and Jackson coun

ed those signs, as some
items remain incomplete.
A landscaping company is
scheduled to return for a fi

accepts those signs. All
work should be complete
within two weeks, accord

Councilmember Jim

Apartment

proposal
withdrawn
A developer asking to replace a
proposed senior living community
on the western edge of Braselton
with an apartment complex has
withdrawn his application.
The withdrawal comes after
applicant Elliot Hollander of Hol
lander Properties, LLC, tailed to
earn a recommendation of approv
al from the Braselton Planning
Commission. On July 24 the board
voted 5-0 July 24 to recommend
denial of a planned unit develop
ment (PUD) zoning amendment
allowing 325 apartments on a
12.14-acre tract at 3036 Friendship
Rd. The board also unanimously
recommended denial of a related
variance involving multi-family or
residential living units on the first
floors of buildings.
Hollander had originally
planned in 2020 to build a senior
community of 30 memory care
units, 50 assisted living units, 120

By Ben Munro

A Braselton developer
updated the status of sev
eral downtown projects,
including an approximate
quarter-mile creek green
stream trail that would
link residential develop
ments on Davis St. to the
Braselton Civic Center
area.
Matt Ruppel of Atlanta
Development Company,
addressing the Braselton
Downtown Development
Authority on Aug. 10, said
he hopes to start work on
the green stream project in
September.
He noted that his com
pany still needs to finalize
plans with the Braselton
Townside subdivision,
which would be included
in the trail project, as that
development is still being
finalized.
Ruppel said a non-profit
legal entity must also be
established for the trail
project.
“That’s something
we’re really focused on
that we’ll be working on
the next month to really
make it real and moving
forward and figure out
how we can pay (for it)
and fund it and develop
it and have it ah set up,”
Ruppel said of the trail
project.
In other projects, Rup
pel expects site work for
the first phase of a town-
home project off Hwy.
124 near the town library
to be complete by the end
of the month, potentially
allowing building to start
in September. Ruppel said
