THE SECRET OF OUR SUCCESS.
"We claim that a combination of local
an 1 constitutional treatment is necessary to
thoroughly eradicate Catarrh. Exclusively
local applications, if made when the
trouble first begins, sometimes cure, but
more frequently drive the disease to othet
parts of the system, where it develops in
a far more serious form. Blood purifiers
may improve the condition of the system,
but they seldom cure—for they do not
reach the seat of the disease. Certain
Catarrh Cure is the only preparation
which combines local and constitutional
treatment, and can consistently claim to
cure Catarrh in all its forms and stages.
It is cheap, easily used, purely vegetable,
entirely harmless. By it, others, who had
no faith, have been cured: YOU CAN BE,
whether you have had the disease one year
or fifty ; whether it is in the head, stomach
orbladder TRY IT NOW.
DELAY IS DANGEROUS.
Past Failures Need not Discourage You.
The Symptoms and Effects
of Catarrh.
Many p’ersons allow Catarrh to gain a
stronghold, in the belief that they are
troubled with an ordinary cold. It
“seems stubborn,” and “lasts longer i
than usual,” but they are not alarmed. I
Finally the sense of smell is gone; then j
they realize that the hearing is not :
good, the eyesight is failing, the voice i
is affected, they begin to breath through
the mouth, have pains in the head, !
grow weak, become despondent, memory i
is not what it formerly was, there is an I
itching, burning sensation in the nasal
organs, discharges pass into the throat
and irritate it, the stomach is deranged,
the whole system pulled down, the
body a wreck. Perhaps the result is
Catarrh of the stomach, or Consumption:
or death may approach gradually and
way from the complete., ex
haustion of all its forces. And all this
started with “ an ordinary cold in the
head.” We do not seek to make the
impression that Catarrhal affections
result so seriously in all cases, or even
in a majority ox cases f but we have
not exaggerated the probabilities of the
disease, and every person who has
experienced any part of the symptoms
enumerated, will appreciate the import
ance of some effectual treatment. So
far as we are aware, but few prepara
tions have ever been offered which
would cure the disease, or evea afford
temporayw-elief, in its simplest stages,
and aftq*t assumes a complicated or
chronic .-rm, these can offer no hope
whatever-
Catarrh Can be Cured.
For the reason* just enumerated, there
is a wide spread belief that the disease
is incurable, and we frequently hear
persons assert this opinion. Among
these are some physicians, who have
condemned patients to lives of misery
by informing them that all treatment
is huinbuggery and death the
only relief. We are not surprised at
this prevailing impression. The unsuc
cessful use of perhaps a dozen “sure
cures” (?) is calculated to confirm such
a view of the case, and it is safe to
assert that over half the persons who
have been restored to health by Certain
Catarrh Cure, commenced its use with
little confidence in the results. Discour
agement of sufferers from the use of other
medicines for Catarrh has been the only
drawback to our business. Wherever a
person has thrown aside his skepticism
and accorded Certain Catarrh Cure a
fair trial, he has been convinced of the
rrroneouaness of the assertion “ Catarrh
can’t be cured.”
The record of our remedy is re
markable, it having shown itself equally
efficacious in every form of the
disease, from the simplest first symp
toms, to the most aggravated type. We
confidently believe that any person suf
fering from' Catarrh, who has vitality
sufficient to keep him alive until Certain
Catarrh Cure is given time to impart its
properties, can be completely cured by
its use, provided consumption or some
similar malady has not assumed its sway.
That all other remedies have failed is no
evidence that this will not cure. .
YOU NEED SUFFER NO LONGER WITH CATARRH, COLOS OR SORE THROAT; WE OFFER YOU A QUICK CURE.
Are Its Results Permanent?
I This question we are frequently asked,
j We answer YES. We do not mean to say
j that if you are cured by Certain Catarrh
| Cure once, you are absolutely “ C'atarrh
I proof ” forever thereafter. Such an
■ idea is ridiculous. A dentist may pull
your tooth. No one questions the fact
that the tooth pulled will never
ache again, but at the same time
everyone recognizes that similar influ
ences may affect the other teeth and
cause them to ache. You may be
twenty-five years old. Have perhaps had
Catarrh five years. Our medicine
cures you; but that does not imply
that in the course of twenty-five years
longer the same causes which attacked
you before, and produced Catarrh, may
not do so again. But the question is,
“Does our remedy cure permanently?
and we repeat our reply —YES. It
does, if it is given a chance to
do so. If its. use is discontinued as
soon as relief is experienced, you need
not be surprised if the disease returns.
The idea w-e seek to convey is that a
permanent cure may be confidently
expected, if the medicine is properly
used for a reasonable ler gth of time —
depending on the severity of disease and
condition of system—and that the relief
obtained makes it a most desirable in
vestment from the first, even if you
have no faith in a cure. It is reasonable
to believe that what it has done it will
do again. If numerous cases cured from
one to thirty-seven years ago are
evidence of the permanency of its re
sults, there is no room for doubt.
SI,OOO Reward—a Humbug!
Don’t Be Deceived by the offer of a
largo reward in case some medicine fails to
cure you. If the reward is claimed, there
is always some way to evade its pay
ment; if never claimed, it is no evidence that
everybody, or anybody, has been cured;
but it speaks well for the intelligence of
our people, that no one is fool enough
to expect its payment. $1,000,000
might be offered with equal safety; for it
is needless to say that the user of such med
icines always dies before their proprietors
are convinced that he “can’t be cured.”
We have i o desire to sell Certain
Catarrh Cure b_, misleading and meaning
less propositions. We offer it for sale be
cause we'know it is reliable. We claim
that it is a CURE, because this has been
demonstrated too often to admit doubt in
our minds. We believe it is the ONLY
cure, because numerous persons get well by
its use, after trying dozens of other so-called
cures without benefit.
We are disposed to give the public every
protection possible against the imposition
of scheming frauds or worthless nostrums,
but NO DEPENDENCE CAN BE
PLACED IN GUARANTEES. If Con
gress will pass a law by which all medi
cines are subjected to a thorough test, and
their merits—in the diseases which they
claim to cure—are fully established before
they can be offered for sale, we will heart
ily favor it. An honest remedy suffers
more from the failure of other prepara
tions to establish their claims than from
all other causes combined—as disappoint
ment in one medicine causes distrust in
many.
In Support of Our Claims,
We offer the testimony of those who have
tried Certain Catarrn Cure to their entire
satisfaction. “An ounce of experience is
worth a pound of theory.’’ Our endorsers
are well known persons, who are alive and
can be found. Not one of our testimoni
als was purchased at any price. They are
the voluntary expressions of parties who
seek to benefit humanity. A perusal of
them will surely convince you that our
claims are well founded. If you have
Catarrh, you cannot afford to be indiffer
ent to its progress. Treatment cannot be
commenced too early. The longer disease
continues, the more time it will require to
be eradicated. Your unsatisfactory experi
ence with other remedies should not inffii
ence you against ours. Lay aside distrust;
give Certain Catarrh Cure a fair test, and
you will, throughout the remainder of your
ife, feel thankful to us for the advice.
REMEMBER!
Certain Catarrh Cure is not simply a
snuff or local application, to drive the dis
ease from the nasal organs into the system;
nor a blood - remedy, to tone up the system
and leave the nasal parts uncured; but it
is a combination of both methods, and the
only remedy which will give satisfaction in
the many different stages of catarrh.

OTHER DISEASES FOR WHICH
CERTAIN CATARRH CURE
HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY TESTED.
Not a “Cure All.”
Those who have read our newspaper ad
vertisements will remember that, in them,
we claimed to cure only Catarrhal and
throat affections and sore mouth. These
have been its great specialties, and for
them it is widely recognized as the quick-
■ est and surest cure known. The prepara
. tion was originally compounded for Catarrh
1 only, as its name indicates—but, in course of
■ experience, has been found equally effica
cious in various other troubles. Catarrh is
an inflammation of the organs attacked,
and it is natural that a medicine which
will cure it, will cure other inflammations.
It will be found of great value in various
cases which arise in a family, and should
be on hand at all times.
Its Harmlessness.
Makes it entirely safe to try Certain
Catarrh Cure for any trouble, without the
slightest fear of injury. It is a purely
vegetable preparation, and to the most
delicate constitution, or organ of the body,
can produce no bad effect whatever.
For Colds, —Certain Catarrh Cure has
been found a splendid remedy, as it opens
the passages of the nasal organs and allays
the frequent burning sensations.
Sore Throat.—The severest cases yield
in an incredibly short time; temporary
inflammation is frequently cured by one
dose, if taken soon after it commences.
For all throat affections, chronic or other
wise, it will bo found without an equal.
Sore Mouth—ls similar in its nature
to sore throat, and is cured quite as readily
by Certain Catarrh Cure. For all troubles
of this kind it is a specific. Dentists who
have tested it for the gums, etc., pronounce
it far superior to preparations put up espe
cially for their purposes.
Indigestion.—ls food disagrees with
you, take tablespoonful after meals.
Deafness, —In a majority of cases, is the
result of Catarrh, which in some instances
attacks the ears alone, or, at least, begins
there. Certain Catarrh Cure has made sur
prising cures of hard-hearing, and we believe
—if the drum of the ear is not destroyed—it
will restore hearing in nearly all cases, no
matter what the person’s age may be. It
is at least well worth a trial by every one
so afflicted.
Hay Fever.—Reports from those who
have tried it, convince us that Certain Ca
tarrh Cure will prevent attacks of Hay Fever.
We advise those who have suffered with this
disease, to commence using our medicine
according to directions for Catarrh, a short
time before the usual appearance of trouble.
A letter from Alabama says: “I used one
bottle of Certain Catarrh Cure last season,
and escaped Hay Fever entirely. I may
be permanently cured, but will use another
bottle this year to avoid all risks of
suffering.”
For Heartburn, —It gives speedy re
lief.
For Sore Eyes.—The best remedy.
Cuts and Burns—A soft cloth sat
urated with the medicine, and bound to the
injured part, will extract the inflammation
and prove of great advantage.

tain Catarrh Cure.
NINE YEARS SUFFERING RELIEVED
Nine years ago I became aware that I
had a severe case of catarrh. lat once
consulted physicians, and subsequently
tried various remedies. Instead of iin
{iroving, I constantly became worse;
ost about one-fourth of my time from
work; was frequently confined in bed;
became emaciated in flesh, and very
weak; could not go up or down stairs
without great effort; after any active ex
ercise I felt completely exhausted. In
this condition I became discouraged,
could see no hope for the future, and
actually despaired of life.
Last September I commenced using
Certain Catarrh Cure, and began to im
prove with the first bottle. Having con
cluded that nothing would help me, I
was astonished.
With this change for the better I
gained confidence, hope returned, and
its use was continued with the most
gratifying results. I have worked con
stantly during the winter, and feel a
complete transformation. Have gained
fifteen -pounds in flesh, and firmly be
lieve I shall be entirely cured. I cannot
recommend it too strongly, and earnest
ly hope that all persons having this dis
ease, will give it a trial and reap the
benefit that I have from its use.
Respectfully, John W. Butlbr.

Gentlemen—lt affords me pleasure to
inform you of the great benefits I derived
from the use of Certain Catarrh Cure. I was
afflicted for eight or ten months with nasal
catarrh, and at times my suffering was in
tense. My throat and lungs were very
much affected—l coughed almost inces
santly, and thought my case would go into
consumption.
I tried other remedies, but grew worse
all the time. I was induced to try your
Certain Catarrh Cure, and, after using
about three bottles, commenced to improve
rapidly. I used five or six bottles, and
i have suffered none since. I shall always
feel grateful that you discovered a remedy
which has cured me, and I am ever ready
to testify to its wonderful curative powers.

3 C Co., Athens, Ga. :
Dear Sirs—With much pleasure I send
you these cheering words. Your medicine
has cured me of a very bad case of catarrh.
I suffered five years; my case grew worse,
until my condition was indeed a sad one.
My throat and bronchial tubes were much
involved—my throat being almost entirely
covered with ulcers ; could swallow only
very soft food. My hearing and sense of
smell were much impaired. I used your
medicine very persistently, and twelve bot
tles cured me. I could write pages of
praise, were it necessary. I will cheerfully
correspond with anyone in regard to my
case. Hoping some suffering one may read
these words and find relief as I have—
through prayer and the use of your excel
lent medicine, I am,
Yours respectfully,

ALL THE WAY FROM OHIO.
Gents— For two years I suffered in
tensely with Catarrh, and tried in vain
to find relief. Many of the so-called
cures were used, but all to no effect.
My condition continued to grow more
serious. Excruciating pains in the head,
copious nasal discharges, impaired hear
ing, sight, taste and smell, and general
derangement of the system were among
my symptoms.
In this condition I commenced the use
of Certain Catarrh Cure, with little hope
of benefit. So often had I been disap
pointed, that I feared the same result
with it. But let this attest my con
viction of its merits. Its relief was
speedy and complete. I have used but
two bottles, and now feel no effects of
the disease. My head is clear, my
senses restored, my system strength
ened. I pronounce it decidedly the
best and only reliable remedy I have
tried, and earnestly urge all those w*ho
suffer with Catarrh, to test its merits.
Respectfully,
