i The Symptoms and Effects
B* of Catarrh.
/ Many p'ersons allow Catarrh to gain a
stronghold, in the belief that they are
troubled with an ordinary cold. J.
V “seems stubborn,” and “lasts longer
than usual,” but they are not alarmed.
• Finally the sense of smell is gone; then
▼ they realize that the f earing is not
▲ good, the eyesight is failing, th"' voice
is affected, they begin to breath through
♦ the mouth, have pains in the head,
grow weak, become despondent, memory
is not what it formerly was, there is an
itching, burning sensation in the nasal
▼ organs, discharges pass into the throat
A and irritate it, the stomach is deranged,
the whole system pulled down, the
▼ body a wreck. Perhaps the result if
♦ Catarrh of the stomach, or Consumption;
♦ or death may approach gradually and
way from the complete; ex
haustion of all its forces. And all this
t started with “an ordinary cold in the
head.” We do not seek to make the
impression that Catarrhal affections
♦ result so seriously in all cases, or even
in a majority of cases; but we have
not exaggerated the probabilities of the
♦ disease, and every person who has
experienced any part of the symptoms
enumerated, will appreciate the import
ance of some effectual treatment. So
far h as we are aware, but few prepara
tions have ever been offered which
♦ would cure the disease, or even afford
temporary relief, in its simplest stages,
A and after it assumes a complicated or
♦ chronic form, these can offer no hope
whatever.

Sole Proprietors,
| ATHENS, GEORGIA. ♦
1 Catarrh Can be Cured.
For the reasons just enumerated, there
1 > a wide spread belief that the disease
• is incurable, and we frequently hear
• persons assert this opinion. Among
‘ these are some physicians, who have
• condemned patients to lives of misery
[ by informing them that all treatment
‘ is "humbuggery and death the
1 only relief. We are not surprised at
1 this prevailing impression. The unsuc-
■ cessful use of perhaps a dozen “sure
cures” (?) is calculated to confirm such
J J view of the case, and it is safe to
1 assert that over half the persons who
1 have been restored to health by Certain
Catarrh Cure, commenced its use with
1 little confidence in the results. Discour
-1 agement of sufferers from the use of other
! medicines for Catarrh has been the only
drawback to our business. Wherever a
■ person has thrown aside his skepticism
• and*4ccorded Certain Catarrh Cure a
1 fair trial, he has been convinced of the
erroneousness of the assertion “ Catarrh
can’t be cured.”
The record of our remedy is re
markable, it having shown itself equally
\fficacious in every form of the
disease, from the simplest first symp
toms, to the most aggravated type. We
confidently believe that any person suf
fering from Catarrh, who has vitality
sufficient to keep him alive until Certain
Catarrh Cure is given time to impart its
properties, can be completely cured by
its use, provided consumption or some
similar malady has not assumed its sway.
Zhat all other remedies have failed is dc
evidence that this will not cnwi.
SI.OOO Reward—a Humbug
Don’t Be Deceived by tbe offer of a
large reward in case some medicine fails to
cure you. If the reward is claimed, there
is always some way to evade its pay
ment; if never claimed, it is no evidence that
everybody, or anybody, has been cured;
but it speaks well for the intelligence of
our people, that no one is fool enough
to expect its payment. $1,000,000
might be offered with equal safety; for it
is needless to say that the user of such med
icines always dies before their proprietors
are convinced that he “can’t be cured.”
We have no desire to sell Certain
Catarrh Cure by misleading and meaning
less propositions. We offer it for sale be
cause we know it is reliable. W e claim
that it is a CURE, because this ha? been
demonstrated too often to admit doubt in
our minds. We believe it is the ONLY
cure, because numerous persons get well by
its use, after trying dozens of other so-called
cures without benefit.
We are disposed to give the public every
protection possible against the imposition
of scheming frauds or worthless nostrums,
but NO DEPENDENCE CAN BE
PLACED IN GUARANTEES. If Con
gress will pass a law by which all medi
cines are subjected to a thorough test, and
their merits—in the diseases which they
claim to cure—are fully established before
they can be offered for sale, we will heart
ily favor it. An honest remedy suffers
more from the failure of other prepara
tions to establish their claims than from
all other causes combined—as disappoint
ment in one medicine causes distrust in
( In Support of Our Claims, X
We offer the testimony of those who have
‘ tried Certain Catarrh Cure to their entire W
s satisfaction. An ounce of experience is
’ worth a pound of theory.” Our endorsers
’ are well known persons, who are alive and
' can be found. Not one of our testimoni-
J. als was purchased at any price. They are
! the voluntary expressions of parties who
seek to benefit humanity. A perusal of ♦♦
them will surely convince you that our
' claims are well founded. If you have
Catarrh, you cannot afford to be indiffer
ent to its progress. Treatment cannot be ♦
commenced too early. The longer disease
continues, the more time it will require to
be eradicated. Your unsatisfactory experi
ence with other remedies should not influ-
enee you against ours. Lay aside distrust;
give Certain Catarrh Cure a fair test, and
you will, throughout the remainder of your
ife, feel thankful to us for the advice.
REMEMBER I ♦
Certain Catarrh Cure is not simply a ▼
snuff or local application, to drive the dis-
ease from the nasal organs into the system;
nor a blood remedy, to tone up the system
and leave the nasal parts uncured; but it
is a combination of both methods, and the
only remedy which will give satisfaction in
die many different stages of catarrh.
