SHIRT WAIST HOUSE GOWN, 4844.
House gowns that give a shirt waist ef
fect are among the newest shown and are
singularly attractive and becoming, inas
much as they mean all the relaxation of the
wrapper without its objectionable features.
This one shows a princess effect at the back,
which means admirable lines, cihnbined
with full fronts that are confined at the
waist line by means of a ribbon or belt.
The model is made of dark red cashmere
piped with black, but numberless other
materials are equally appropriate and e
qually in style. The collar is one of the
new ones and can be slashed to allow the
tie passed through, as illustrated, or left
plain, as may be liked.
The gown is made with fronts, backs,

side-backs and under-arm gores, and is ar

to the waist lire. The back is laid in

while the fronts are tucked from the shoul

HOUSE JACKET, 4820.
Tasteful house jackets are among the
good things of which no woman ever had
a surplus. This one is peculiarly attrac
tive as it includes a big cape collar, which
is eminently becoming and graceful, and
the wide sleeves that always are pretty.
The model is made of figured chailie with
trimmings of lace frills and insertion, but
all materials in use for garments of this
sort are equally correct. When liked the
sleeves can be gathered into cuffs, as
shown in the back view, and the neck fin
ished with a roll-over collar.
The jacket is made with loose fronts and
tucked backs, and is shaped by means of

GIRL’S BLOUSE COSTUME WITH
GORED PLAITED SKIRT, 4832.
Blouse costumes are always desirable for
school wear and are shown in many varia
tions. This one is peculiarly attractive
and satisfactory as the skirt is gored in
addition to being plaited, so doing away
with unnecessary bulk. As illustrated the
material is blue serge, with collar and cuffs
of white linen which are attached to the
bands by means of studs and buttonholes,
but all the materials suitable for frocks of
the sort can be used; and, when liked, col
lar and cuff's can be made of the same or
contrasting wool material and stitched to
the blouse in place of being buttoned
into place.
The costume consists of the body lining
and the skirt, which are closed together at
♦he back, and the blouse. The lining is
fitted by means of shoulder and under arm
seams and the skirt is cut in five gores.
The blouse is made with fronts and back
and is drawn up at the lower edge by
means of elastic inserted in a hem. The
sleeves are full, finished with ba’ ds at the
lower edges, to which the cuffs are at
tached. A pocket can be inserted in the
left front or omitted as may be prefer
red At the neck is a roll-over collar
which also is attached tn a band.
The quantity of material required for the
medium size (12 years) is 7J yards 27
inches wide, 6j yards 32 inches wide or 3|
yards 44 inches wide, with J yard 27 inch
es wide for collar and cuffs.
The pattern, 4832, is cut in sizes for girls
of 8, 10, 12 and 14 years of age, and will
be mailed to any reader of our magazine
for only ten cents.
