The Athens Watchman of the 5th
contains the report of John A. Grant,
Engineer, upon preliminary surveys of
a route of railway connecting the Ath¬
ens branch of the Georgia Railroad with
Clayton, in Rabun county, made at the
instance of the Georgia Railroad. The
Engineer furnishes estimates for three
different routes, as follows:
First line, S8 2-10 miles (not
including outfit) complete $1,950,000
Second line, 91 2-10 miles (not
including outfit) complete 1.875,000
Short line via Bush ville 80 1-2
miles (not including outfit) 1,500,000
