IFe make up from a number of la’e Northern papers the following sum mary of interesting items: The New Hampshire Gazette, the old est paper in the United States, expired a few days ago at the age of one hun dred and five years. Lincoln’s Secretary of War is be coming impatient with the expense of bands of music for the army. It is said to amount already to a sum that will make this single item of expense four millions a year. A special dispatch to the New York “Post” says Brigadier General Graham has been ordered to appear before Judge Merrick for contempt of Court.— It is alledged that he forced a soldier into the ranks after ho had been dis charged by the Court. The New York Sun was lately sold for $33,000. Less than two years since it was sold for $150,000. and the nett profits of the concern were $50,000. It is said travel was stopped on the Washington and Baltimore Railroad, in order to give the Linculnites an op port unty to mine the road at the Relay and Annapolis Junction. The Bank of Washington refuses to take the treasury notes, and Lincoln’s minions want. Congress to close the disloyal institution.” Gen. McClellan has long been desir ous of having the aimy organized into large corps (Tanner, and has decided upon the commanders, of whom Mc- Dowell and Franklin ar ; two: but Scott, opposes the plan, saying we hadn’t any such thing in Mexico. Knoxville Tenn., Oct. 25.—The Knoxville Register, of to day reports a fight between Gen. Zollicoffor and a force of Lincolnites from Camp Dick Robinson in Kentucky. The latter were entrenched near Rock Castle Ford. Gen.„ Zollicoffer attacked and drove them from their entrenchments. lie had five men killed and twenty-three wounded. The loss of the enemy in killed and wounded is not known. Gen. Zollicoffer fell back to prevent his supply trains from being cut off. Lexington, Mo , Captured by the Federal ists Nashville, Tenn., Oct. 26.—A special dis patchtc the St. Louis Democrat-dated Jefferson City Mo., October 2oth, joprt that a detach of 150 Federalists under Major White sur prised the Confederate garrison at Lexington Mo., and captured the place together with a quanity of Suns pistols and other articles, which the “rebels” thre.waway in their flight and also two pieces of cannon.
