Perry's defense 'stellar' Hayward a big contributor in Panthers’ win By MATTHEW BROWN Journal Sports Writer Casey Hayward had no idea his first touchdown of the 2007 football sea son would come ... on an intercep tion return. The Perry Panther quarter- Periy 30, Hawkinsville 9 back, and sometimes defen sive back, ran a pick back 80 yards for a score, and then proceeded to have a hand in three offensive touchdowns Friday at Herb St. John Stadium. With 17 points in the fourth quarter, Perry outlasted Hawkinsville High 30-9 to get the new grid iron season off to a winning start. Hayward scored a rush ing touchdown of one yard (which would be his net gain on the ground for the whole game) and threw two scoring passes to Akeen Felder, both in the final quarter of play. The competition is free and it is for boys and girls ages 8-15. The age control date is Dec. 31. A birth certificate is required. Tennis shoes are required to be worn for the competition. Each child will punt, pass and kick the foot ball.
